Job as a pure mathematics researcher?

Is it possible to become a 'researcher' for fields in pure mathematics at PhD level, for a university and get paid for makiing papers? Or are the only job prospects in industry like accounting/physics?

Your question kind of doesn't make sense. The only place pure mathematics research occurs is in academia, and yes a PhD is the minimum starting point for that. Of course maths grads go into many areas, but you aren't going to be doing pure maths research anywhere outside of a uni.

Also virtually all physics research occurs within unis so I've no idea why you're suggesting their only job prospects are in industry. I don't think you really understand what it is academic researchers do or what workers in industry do.

Fortunately though you don't really need to know that if you haven't started your undergraduate degree yet. As either way the first step is getting your undergraduate degree - then once you are in that course you will be able to get a better idea of whether you want to pursue academia or not, and if so will have people who can advise you more on the process.
