1 foot = 0.305 metres

im about 1.80m @ 5'10", so 5'8" would be around 1.74m
But if you're 1.80m, then you are 6'. I know I am anyway...

6' is 1.83m

an inch is 2.54cm, and there is 12 inches in a foot, thus 30.48 (30.5cm) the extra 0.5cm over 6' makes the difference.

I'm 5'11 and my father is 6'5, so I kind of doubt that's any sort of rule.

Hm. Depends on how meticulous you want to be. It's much easier to say you're 6 foot. Especially if you're a guy...

Let's get one thing straight: I'm not a guy. But no. There you don't have to mess around with converting, so that would be a lie. And unless you decide to get *very* personal, noone would know whether or not you were lying. Height is a different thing. You can measure someone with your eyes, and you'd know pretty much how tall they are. But really, who cares? It's just a number anyway.
