Please do help with referencing ive never been more confused about a unit. It's so hard l don't know what i'm even doing :/

It’s a difficult unit so I don’t blame you for being a bit confused. I recommend using a site called “mybib” or similar. Mybib walks you through each reference step by step and asks for the details needed, and then you can copy the citation and reference for the text/bibliography. There’s some videos online which walk you through this.

Give this a go and if you get stuck with any particular reference I’m happy to track it down and generate it for you

in the exam do you have to do a full Harvard reference? or just the (name, date)

Full Harvard referencing. You get marked on the work you do and the referencing and bibliography

how will i include that in my work, do i have to write it all down in the end? Also will i need to note it down in my 4 sides of paper, what if it takes too much space?
thank you so much btw

You’ll need to double check this with your tutor but I don’t think the bibliography takes up note space. As in, it doesn’t matter how long it is, it won’t count towards the 4 pages you’re allowed.

The bibliography goes on the notes you’re making so it’s best to add to it with every reference you find.

Thank you so much for helping. Could you explain how l will do the 4 sides of notes. So for example lets say l used this website https://www.stroke.org.uk/effects-of-stroke
what would l do, just write what theyve stated like statistics and quotes? and then would l just reference it at the bottom ? I don't even know what im doing

Make notes of anything you think you're going to find helpful. The notes are yours so you can tailor them to stuff that helps you. Statistics help but just bits of information you think will be good to discuss in the exam and that relate to the point you're trying to make

For my notes I did the following and used the references as subheadings:

(Reference name, Reference Date)
Insert helpful information here

(Reference name, Reference Date)
Insert helpful information here

Put the bibliography in at the end so it isn't counting towards your 4 pages. (So you can see how many pages you've actually used)

Your really helpful, do you know if for Q1 we still have to compare original article with one that we have found because I know thy have changed q1 in the past few years and now we don have to reference in it. Do I use have to include the research methods used I original article, advantages, disadvantages including reliability and validity and conclude with suitability of each.

How have the different methods referenced in the article been used to research the issue. In your answer your should consider suitability and reliability and validity of research methods

Reply 31

Talk about how they've applied primary and secondary research for the issue. Talk about qualitative and quantitative research.

You also want to mention if the source is reliable and why. Are their methods the best ones they could have used for their research? What was the dominant research method (primary or secondary) and do you think this was beneficial for them when gathering data on the topic.

Advantage/disadvantage of each research method used and why.

How have they applied these methods to the topic to help support their claim?

Here's an examiners report from Jan 2020: https://hsctallis.weebly.com/uploads/8/3/0/3/83031210/examiners_report_jan_2020_u4.pdf which will have model answers for each question. This is worth reading to highlight some of the points you can talk about in each answer.

This question is solely talking about the article in Part A. You don't need to include any of your own references and any answers given should just be about Part A.

Hope this is helpful!

What's the topic you've been given? The full title of it? I always advise people to do research before the set 3 hours (or whatever it is) so you don't have to rush and can take time finding sources and making notes.
