If you would like to study a healthcare degree doing an access course first is a great idea to get the required UCAS points.
This is because an access course is to provide students with the academic skills and knowledge foundations needed for a degree. It is a perfect stepping stone and prepares you for university.
Many universities accept access courses however, i would advise that you check with the specific university you want to study at to make sure this is the case.
For diagnostic radiography im planning on taking an access to radiography bur is this accepted? For example Herts
If you look at the Entry Requirements section on the course page, then it should say what qualifications are acceptable. For Herts, it says the following for Access courses:
Access diploma should be Health care or science based A minimum of 45 credits at level 3 of which at least 24 credits are graded at distinction and 21 credits graded at merit
If the Entry Requirements section is not clear, contact admissions and ask.
