Applying for work in USA

So I am about 9 months away from completing an engineering apprenticeship in the UK. I will have completed a 7 year time served apprenticeship and have a BEng.

I'd love to go and work in America within an engineering field (ideally automotive) once I finish my apprenticeship. I am a UK citizen and have no links to the US (no family over there)

I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this and has done something similar?

I'd like to know about the Job application process, visa eligilbility and employment benefits.
