STEP instead of MAT

I applied to Imperial College London for the Mathematics programme. Due to certain reasons I was unable to write MAT. Can I receive a conditional offer with a STEP requirement, and how possible is this? My predicted grades are A*A*A*

They will assess your application as to whether they believe that you will be a good fit for Imperial and make a decision on the merit you display on your application and based off this, if you have something that makes your application stand out, they will give you a STEP offer. I'm not sure whether they do interview for Maths because we haven't had anyone from my school apply to Imperial for Maths without doing the MAT (because they also applied to Oxford) for the past three years.

I applied for Computer Science and I had to sit an admissions test organised by the university itself independent of the Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing organisation. I felt that the admissions test was extremely straightforward and looking through my personal statement, there were DEFINITELY one or two activities which I think makes me stand out (not to the extent of being unique but rather piquing the interest of the admissions tutors) but I'm not going to mention them because I don't feel comfortable sharing said information on a public forum. I received my in-person interview invite on 10/11 for my interview to take place on 29/11. I think that the interview went OK on the whole (other than perhaps one slightly shaky question at the end of it). I now need to wait for one month before hearing back from them with my decision. In addition to my A level requirements, I also have to sit the STEP and standard offer is A*AAA (because I do four A levels) with the A star in Maths and grade 2 in STEP II.

With regards to the STEP, how are you preparing for it? I know that you will have to sit maybe the STEP III and that your own mathematical ability is far above my own but I would like some advice if that is OK with you.
