baccalaureate

does the scottish baccalaureate count for anything when applying to uni - i.e does it actually make you a better candidate or can it count for grade requirements?

Depending on the specific uni, potentially. Most unis will have a UK qualifications page, or 'Other UK qualifications' section with a bit of guidance.

e.g. from Manchester:

"The University welcomes and recognises the value of the Scottish Baccalaureate and the Interdisciplinary Project. Grade requirements vary across courses and they may need additional qualifications. Students should refer to the specific entry requirements for their chosen course."
