It seems unlikely that it's that fact that you start talking about polygyny that makes people angry (unless you just randomly raise the subject all the time and people are just fed-up talking about it). It's more likely what you say about polygyny that is the issue.

Perhaps your views are very different from, or even offensive to, those you're talking with about it?
