Oxford rejected me on March 17th last year.
Ah, so the longer we wait, the less chances we have?:/

May I also ask whether you had an interview last year?

No interview.
Copied someone's comment above: "After checking last year’s thread, there seem to be two rounds of invites. The first one is for those who are accepted without interviews, the second is for those who had interviews. The rest of us get rejected." It's true... though I really hope there are some exceptions for this year.

does anyone know the weight of the interview on the admissions decision? I did my interview early this week and I feel as though the technical questions could've gone a lot better. I mostly prepared for ML questions given that that was the focus of my PS but ended up being asked some random questions that caught me a bit off guard :/

Might I ask about what types of questions you received?

I'd rather not go into too much detail. But broadly, the questions I couldn't answer properly were related to theoretical computer science.

I am an international applicant here. No offer. 'Ready for assessment'. No interview. Application submitted on the deadline.
The document upload button still exists in the self-service portal.

What does the upload button signify when it is disabled?

International applicant here as well. Similar situation with yours. I think it meant that a decision has been made about your application.

I think the upload button signifies whether a decision has been reached on your application. This would make sense since they can't consider any new information once a decision has been reached and so they disable it.

Is it true that offers only drop on Tuesdays and Thursdays? Also, if we haven't received an offer by the end of next week, is it safe to assume that we're going to be rejected?

According to the last few messages could I assume that international applications are kept on hold until all the others have reached a decision. As they also have to fill in an international student quota I assume it wouldn't be bad to expect an outcome soon.

But now the chances of getting an interview is also minimal as usually they conduct it around the first to end week of Feb.

So maybe the decision for international students could directly be an offer or rejection

I'm an international applicant and I received an interview. A friend of mine who is also an international applicant didn't receive one. Make of that what you will.

I think some of the international students have already got direct offer. I am afriad the remaining will just be reject.

This is true, but not many offers have been given out yet. There are only a few offers on Gradcafe and this thread, and they were all on the 20th. The second and final major batch of offers will likely go out this week. After that, we can expect smaller batches as offers are accepted/rejected by applicants. I'm assuming that there is some sort of waitlisting mechanism to facilitate this. However, I must say that if you haven't received an interview thus far, make sure you have a backup just in case.

But direct offers only made once last year. The remaining offers are for those who have been interviewed. Will we have following direct offers?

I am honestly not sure. Here's a summary of useful information I can give:

1.

Offers are released exclusively on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

2.

The last batch of offers was sent out on the 9th of March last year. The remaining applicants were rejected on the 17th of March.

3.

If your upload button is gone, a decision has been reached on your application. If you don't receive an outcome on the following Tuesday or Thursday, you have likely been rejected.

Are the offers sent on 9th of March last year are for those who have been interviewed?

This is actually true!
Offers are sent on Tuesdays and Thursdays because most of the staff is in the department, also agree with the other stuff. Let's hope we hear soon! All the best to everyone!

There is again someone who stated that direct entries happen in March, so I guess there is still hope. Did anyone hear anything?

Reply 199

Wild that the first email I get from Oxford since applying is titled "When will you hear back about studentships?"
I know it's only a regular informatory email by graduate admissions but I do feel it's rubbing my lack-of-interview salt into the wounds lol.
