You still have about 70 days left until the course deadline itself closes, but you've missed the funding deadline so you won't be considered for any scholarships / bursaries through Cambridge, unfortunately.

Yes, I outlined areas that I was interested in but they were relatively more broad (e.g. neurodegeneration, behavioural stress responses). I also identified one or two of the Cambridge Neuroscience professors as I was interested in their fields of study. I'm also planning on doing an neuroscience research project this coming summer, so I briefly mentioned how it relates to the course and why I think it prepares me for the MPhil.

Best of luck!!

To those who applied after the Jan funding deadline, has anyone heard anything? Id applied a few days after the funding deadline at the start of Jan, but have yet to receive any reply.

for anyone who applied after January, any news with your application or when they will assess them?

hello, I emailed them in march and they said they will consider all applications together after 24/4. Have you heard back at all? I am also waiting for a response
Have there been any rejections yet this cycle?

at this point i would rather they reject me now so I can move on to my other offers
Hey guys, has anyone got any updates? Applied after the Jan funding deadline as well.

i emailed and they said the application is still in consideration and they aim to make decision by 13/6
Out of curiosity can successful applicants and those of us still waiting share some of their profile and research interests?

Hi! I received my offer in February (I applied before the funding deadline).
In terms of my academic profile, I've only done one previous independent research project over the summer of last year on vector-borne diseases, but I'm doing a neuroscience-focused summer project this June as well. I come from a Biological Sciences course which is quite broad, and so I haven't had much experience with neuroscience research, but that is the point of this course!

I also wrote an article for an A-level magazine on my previous summer project, which is currently in press, and will be attending the International Conference of Undergraduate Research (ICUR) this summer. I'm a competitive member of a sports team at my uni and used to be on the executive committee, although I'm not really sure whether that would have helped my application.

In my statement I discussed that my main research interests revolved around neurodegenerative disorders and cognition, particularly related to the behavioural and physiological effects of stress. I explained that this interest mostly came from personal experiences in witnessing the consequences of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as my home country's perception of mental health and how recent research implicates stress in increasing health risks such as obesity. To be honest though, I'm most excited about exploring the department at Cambridge and talking to academics to get a better idea of what sorts of fields I would be most interested in going into.

Hope that helps! Best of luck if you're still waiting for results 😊

oh no i’m sure they still know you!!! what questions did they ask you? did they make any comments after or during ur interview. also how did u handle the specific research questions??? like did u manage to answer the ones they gave you. also also , i felt it was rather like to the point idk mine lasted about 20 minutes, but like they were quite friendly so i can’t quite gage it? i answered the questions that they gave me about my research project so i hope maybe that might be okay hah!
Hello! I have an interview for this masters tomorrow and I’m just wondering what questions did they ask and specifically what type of scientific questions did they ask? Congrats on getting accepted !

Congrats on getting an interview!
They asked me why I applied for the course, my research experience, how I was / am planning on funding this course, and whether I had any questions of my own at the end.

In terms of scientific questions, they asked me to explain a research project I previously conducted in under two minutes. Then they asked follow-up questions relating to what I had stated, and how I thought it could link to the course (e.g. how a certain laboratory method / technique could be important to translational neuroscience).

My interview was around 15 minutes long, so it felt really really short! Just be confident in what you're talking about, and definitely ask your own question at the end if you have a good one to leave an impression.

Good luck!

This is so helpful, thank you so much! Will update once I hear the outcome after the interview 😊
Had my interview today! Not sure how it went. I think I’m going to be in a permanent state of anxiety until I hear back! How long after the interview before you heard the outcome?

Well done! I was similarly anxious, I'm sure you did great.
I actually heard back really quickly after my interview - I think just over a week until I found out that I had moved onto the next stage of the admissions stage. I received my official offer letter a couple of weeks or a month after the interview.

Good luck!!
