Im getting ~8s to load on chrome/basic windows laptop, so the "For You" section is greyed out for a bit, but probably liveable with.
It was similar earlier so guessing its a bit more stable than yesterday.

Thanks - i'll take a look into your account today as well

Might seem a bit churlish, but the relevance of the For You links is low

Agreed that For You etc. is useless (I'm probably a bit of an outlier in terms of typical TSR interests, but what it shows basically seems a totally random scattering of threads).

Appreciate the feedback, you certainly aren't alone in that opinion and we're actively working on improving the quality and relevance of what we show in the feed. I'm hoping to iterate on this over the course of today between speeding things up

The Watching (and Following) section is completely empty, so for me Home is not useful, unfortunately.

I'll check in with the team on this if you're expecting things there - I believe there are some in-progress fixes which should be released today

Im not following anyone so I dont expect there to be anything there (maybe ignore the section if someone isnt following anyone?), but it would probably make sense to have something like the most recent n Watched threads, even if they have been looked at. There may be a reason to go back to them sometimes.

Hey folks, I'm hoping you find things slightly more speedy and stable today? I've been working through the various performance issues and most of them are under control now (I have a couple of known issues left to fix)

@04MR17 it is actually possible that you've broken the system... The feed will try not to show you threads which haven't been updated since you last viewed them, so there is a definite edge case for particularly active users! I'll take a look into your case specifically today and see what's happening.

Thanks again for your patience!

What would you like me to do about this?

Just leave it with me for the moment 🙂

I’m part of the youth (I assume that I’m part of the target audience due to being a student that’s part of the youth) and the for you stuff isn’t that useful for me either. It just strings together random irrelevant threads as you say.

Maybe I’ve broken the system as well then if MR has broken it.

no I will not fill out the form to state where I’m at in my education and all of that, just give me thread recommendations that align with where I post the most or just improve the system/scrap it.

I like the update (the rebranding) overall then, I love the vibrant colour scheme, it feels like you’re using a completely different and new website (in a positive way for me).

PRSOM, thanks for the feedback  Personally I totally agree that you shouldn't have to do anything for us to be able to recommend content and it's a feature I'm actively working on improving and getting right.

I've got a change lined up to deploy this afternoon which (in my testing on various user accounts at least) should get rid of the least relevant threads which are popping up

I personally think the rebranding is a downgrade; obviously it's going to be subjective, but (for example) I don't think many would defend the new logo over the old one (as pointed out elsewhere, once you use multiple colours, realising that it's supposed to be an 'S' becomes very difficult).

More to the point, it feels like fiddling with the deckchairs on the titanic.

I have to say, I was totally shocked looking back at activity on the maths forum now relative to 2011 (roughly when I moderated it).
It's gone from ~100 posts / day (to be fair, I only looked at one day back in 2011, because counting 4 days of posts at that activity level was too much like hard work) to roughly 3 posts per day now.

That's catastrophic. To be clear, this is a long term decline - it's not due to the rebrand. But I'm sure the rebrand isn't going to help. [One of the biggest issues with the maths forum is people finding it difficult to post questions using maths symbols. With no-one using TeX any more, that means uploading images. And the rebrand has not made that any easier...]

And yes, there's more to TSR than the maths forum, but when I modded it (and could see the overall stats), something like one third of all study help posts were to the maths forum. So its decline is a pretty big deal IMHO.

I think that the ability to attach images from your device (without needing to use 3rd party software) should have been included on release. But that’s another topic.

I personally do not mind the new logo or colour scheme (I love the new colour scheme).

I’ve seen other forums on the decline as well to be fair (not necessarily because of the update but just in general).

I'm not sure the images thing is "another topic"; TSR image upload is something that has needed sorting for years, and has definitely caused problems for people using the maths forum (to the point I generally advised people to use an image hosting platform if they wanted to be sure their images were at a sensible resolution, the right way up, etc).

But instead of functionality improvements like that which would have improved the user experience, the dev effort has gone to a rebrand that has left users with reduced, buggy functionality.

When you said "other forums on the decline" did you mean other discussion forums from TSR (e.g. artofproblemsolving) or other subforums inside TSR (e.g. the Chemistry Forum as opposed to the Maths Forum)?

By another topic I meant that it might be better in a separate thread that isn’t focused on talking about the home feed.

Second paragraph I can agree with in some aspects.

By other forums on the decline I mean other subforums inside of TSR (I can’t comment on study help specifically but I seem to see it for other forums).

Im getting ~3s to load now which is "normal" so heres hoping ....

For the Watched threads, it looks like the previous button has been relabelled "View all" which is more meaningful, though I realised the previous one took me to subscriptions. Maybe put it on the same level as the other two buttons so top right rather than bottom right as it would save a bit space? However, Im getting notifications for watched threads and they appear as unread on the subscriptions list, but dont appear on this page and the Watched threads area is still always empty.

Realise this is overlapping / becoming more of a issue about Watched threads which I think is another bug thread.

@ldo21 - "For You" is now marginally better (maybe a 10% hit rate), but honestly I just don't feel it's useful.

Out of curiosity, I visited the home page "incognito" to see what the page looks like to someone "just visiting" TSR. Has any thought been put into this? Because it seems strange to show "For You" for someone who's not a TSR member. (The "For You" list also happened to have a Sexual Health post about Circumcision, which maybe isn't ideal to throw at a random visitor).
