Yeah it’s about end of Sept/early Oct normally I think - so if you’re applying for Oxbridge the results may come out after deadline.

Got it, thank you for the clarification!!

theforage(website) can provide virtual work experience for computer science, read books, watch movies ( I watched the imitation game it was cool), learn things yourself such as python or javascript, read an article. Make sure you have good predicted grades, most unis are very demanding for this course in terms of grades especially if you're applying for MENG. Also start thinking of the universities you'd like to apply to now, often they want a plethora of other things, Imperial only gives offers wanting u to sit the STEP 2 paper, I didn't actually look over this before I applied and now I'm just sadly waiting ahah I haven't done further maths at all and ill have to learn it all my self to actually sit it, So yeah a lot of research before you choose where you wanna apply. Goodluck

I didn’t know you could talk about movies (I love the imitation game I talked it about it for my gcse English language speaking thing). Hope you get into the uni you want and thanks for the reply 😁

Does anyone have any extracurriculars/supercurriculars they recommend for me as a person who wants to go to a russel group uni for computer science (specifically at UCL) and any other things I should be doing to increase my chances of getting in? So far all I've got it is online work experience for Fujitsu, attending literature society at my school and leading a session, silver/bronze dofe and I entered an essay competition that I haven't received results for yet?

If your school offers, do a thing called BEBRAS or ask them to let you do it. I did it a few years ago(currently am in year 12) and it can lead to you getting into an oxford uni computing challenge which is very beneficial.

theforage is mostly good for you to understand if you like the sector. Yes, it's really good but you must say that you learnt something really good and then did your further research which revealed that astonishing fact, don't mention it in isolation. And according to their t&c you can't mention it on your CV as work experience as you have no contract with the companies (maybe the PS is ok, forage won't know) you should put it under licences and certifications.

Also some reviews say they found it hard because it might have asked them to enter commands (everything is explained, don't worry) which you only learn later if you work there, but everything is given.

Ouch! I do Further Maths and I'm feeling the hit with STEP II. How are you coping?

aha, I'm just laying off it rn but I know if it comes to be I'll manage because in the end, I might just choose a different Uni, I've received 2/5 offers so far because i applied quite late and I'm just waiting for everything before I yk actually start committing to the STEP

I've just sent you a private message detailing most of the things mentioned on my application and I think this will be highly constructive given that I have offers from the institutions you are trying to target (not UCL specifically, though I was briefly considering it, but rather for Cambridge, Imperial, Edinburgh, Manchester, Durham).
I don't feel comfortable sharing it with you on a public forum so opted for private message instead. Hope you understand.
I forgot to mention this but my GCSEs were 9999999988 with the 8s in English Lit and RS. I am predicted 5 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science, Chemistry and EPQ. However, in hindsight, if I were to go back to year 12, I would have dropped EPQ at the drop of a hat.
If I get in, I will be the first person in my family to study at a UK university so since no one else has had this experience of applying in my family to the top UK unis, I chose to throw myself in at the deep end head-first. I really enjoyed the EPQ experience and I've picked up loads of useful skills but there were times where I simply felt that it was a burden.

please can you private message me them as well?

Could you also share it with me if that's alright? I am currently in Sixth form and am looking for guidance on how to improve my application in Computer Science. At current my IGCSE results are 6A*1A1B, and am taking Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics as my A levels, alongside an EPQ. At current I am in 1 competition, attended 1 hackathon, and 1 conference, as well as am currently doing 4 online courses in courera.
