Hi what role was this for? And do you mean sharing how long it took for your vetting to come back?

It’s for the DCEP, and my vetting took about 3 months and a week to come back.

Hi. I have been given my BCU posting today and I didn’t get given any of the 3 options that I selected. I’ve been given the east area which is quite difficult for me travel wise and I was just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to request a change in BCU?

If you're going to be a PC, almost certainly you'll be starting on team. The shift times are 7-4 for Early Turn, 2-10 for Late Turn and 10-7 for Nights. Realistically, if you are parading at 7am for ET, you'll need to be in for 6.30am latest to get changed etc. Get ahold of the tube timetables from TfL and email scans of some TfL route planners to whoever to show that you aren't going to be able to get in for earlies (or at least it will be very difficult), and also that if you are late off on lates, its going to be difficult for you to get home. Also add the BOCUs that you actually can get to. Make sure that you are referring to your travel to the correct police station too.

Whenever you deal with Met bureaucracy, always give them a solution. It's no good saying "I can't get to Forest Gate". You have to say "I put down three preferences, I didn't get any of them. I have been given Forest Gate team, which is very difficult for me to get to for ET. However, I can get to Kentish Town, Charing Cross, Hammersmith or Wembley". If you still get refused, state that it is a clear welfare issue as you would be adding two hours each way travel in order to travel in by bus, which is unreasonable when they could just as easily give you another BOCU.

I have never known anyone to not get a move if they can't make it in for earlies. In training, your sergeant should definitely be able to tell you who to send your request to, if it isn't on the postings sheet itself.

If you are going to be a detective, you'll have to find out the parade time and work off those - and also your parade times for Street Duties. It's going to be a little bit more tricky, but you should be able to get a change.

Thanks, do you remember if your portal said “medical passed” and the next update after that was that when your vetting was cleared?

Should be fine I’m 26, but my parents are not born in the UK so that’s why there may be a delay. What role have you applied for?
