Hi guys

I have received an offer for the 2024 graduate intake in September for audit at both EY and KPMG.

I preferred KPMG's assessment centre and felt I got on better with the interviewer, but EY were still excellent too! In terms of compensation, the salary that I have been offered by EY is around £1k higher than KPMG's. Does anybody know if this difference is likely to be cancelled out as I hopefully work my way up in the coming years? Or are EY generally known for providing better compensation?

Also, does anybody who has worked at either KPMG or EY have any advice or experience to share in terms of what they are like to work for (culture etc)?

Is it better to opt for the company I marginally preferred (KPMG) or the preferable salary (EY) at this point in my career? I would be happy taking the lower salary offer at this stage, but I would not want to continue earning less at KPMG over several years than I could be doing at EY!

Thanks!

Hey, Currently sitting on a KPMG offer aswell, with last year also receiving an EY offer.

From my experience and understanding, EY will generally offer the fastest route to career progression, with possibly more travelling opportunities and a higher general pay, but at the same time, this is also very possible at KPMG.

I have very close family friends who are seniors at KPMG, and friends who were part of the 2023 intake too, and the one thing that they all vouched for was that KPMG is a much more work-life friendly place to be. The culture is much more tolerable and there's less occurrences of burn out.

One of the people I became acquainted with last year at my EY offer holder events was telling me that within their first month, they were already doing 80+ hour weeks at EY, whilst my KPMG friends weren't overworked nearly to this extent.

I think it depends on you, culture wise and socially, id say go with KPMG, you will be just as qualified as if you were at EY, maybe with the sacrifices of slightly lower pay and less travelling opportunities.

Me personally, im settling with KPMG this year.
