Hi
I have an offer for Uclan vet med and definitely plan on accepting it, at the moment I’m looking into accommodation and hoping to maybe see if there are any other vet students who would like to share a flat?

Hey Sarah, thank you for your input. I'm leaning towards UCLan over HKVS, however I'm also awaiting a response from RVC for the gateway course. I am debating between UCLan 5 year vet med and RVC 6 year now which is also a tough choice. If I were to attend an open day at UCLan, will they have a designated section for veterinary medicine? What I learned during my interview and campus tour was quite convincing, however discussing with a current student on the course I am doing might help in giving me more closure. Thank you!
Hi @ArjunR,

Attending one of our Open days will give you the opportunity to visit subject stands where you can talk to our vet med tutors and ask any questions you may have. There's plenty to get involved with including subject talks, taster sessions and you'll have the chance to explore our facilities.

During the day you will also be given the opportunity to meet current students who will take you on a campus tour where you will have the chance to ask any questions and get an idea of what student life will be like. Open days are a brilliant way for you to learn more about your course and to get a taste for life here at UCLan, so I'd highly recommend you attend one if you can. 😊

Our next open day at our Preston campus is Saturday 22 June, you can learn more about the day and book a place here. 😊

Any questions, please feel free to ask!

We hope to welcome you onto campus soon! 👋

Sarah

Hi all! Just wanted to see if anyone else has been accepted and if they are planning on accepting the offer?

Hi congratulations! I was just wondering if you could answer a quick question, what grades did you apply with and how much work experience did you apply with. Thankyou!

I was on the 11:30 rotation on Dec 12 as well, haha. I didn't get an offer (I did for Bristol, though), but well done to you both!

Hi I had a days work experience in a South African veterinary clinic and got to be in the surgery room so I was really blessed with that and then been volunteering at an animal sanctuary for the last year. I applied with A*AA i think but I'm definitely not going to be getting an A in chemistry but my offer is ABB so hopefully I can meet that.

Hi just a quick question about UCLan. This is originally my post so I have an offer to UCLan for ABB I just wanted to know because I'm really worried about chemistry and getting a B so what are my options if I don't get one.

I think I am going to get AAB or ABB in biology, geography and a 'b' max in chem, any tips to stand out in my application?

Last year those that missed a grade were offered places on the foundation year course

Hey! I applied after already receiving my grades in Maths Biology and Chemistry at AAB (I was a gap year student). At the time of applying I had approximately 110 hours of veterinary work experience, around 50 hours in veterinary clinics and the rest elsewhere. It sounds like you'll be applying this year so I'd advise get a good amount of experience in different environments (clinics, farms and abattoirs etc). More experience now will make you feel a LOT more prepared for the course, and discussing the things you don't learned, understood and was interested in will give you a huge edge when answering more difficult questions. Good luck with applying if I'm correct with my assumption!

Hey everyone! I've been sent the pre-placement health questionnaire but I don't have my medical documents as of yet, I have contacted my local surgery but they have said it might take about a month for me to get a response. Does anyone know by when I need to have submitted the questionnaire with my evidence by? Thanks!
