Hello, is anyone accepting the foundation route entry? What are your thoughts on reapplying and not being guaranteed entry even if you pass the year?

My predicted grades are A*BBB in psychology chemsitry biology core maths, respectively.
The minimum entry requirements are ABB for UCLan, which I really appreciate as I am somebody who does struggle with the academic side of the application.

Do you think I have a chance of receiving an offer for an interview from UCLan?

I have also ensured to complete plenty of work experience and tried my best to write a really good personal statement. Additionally, after my Year 12 mocks, I have been working much harder in my A-levels and found a revision method that works for me (that I wish I found sooner) anki flashcards, blurting, then practice questions.

This has been working, as I recently got an A (75%) in my respiration test, so I am more confident about actually being able to get my ABB in psych, bio, and chem in my actual exams.

Would really appreciate if other vet applicants had their own opinion on whether or not I have the chance of receiving an interview from UCLan. Thank you.

Hi there, I am the person who originally started this thread back when I got accepted and have now been at Uclan for about 2 months. I had very limited work experience when I applied and achieved ABB at A level. I think your chances of getting an interview would be quite high as long as your personal statement shows how passionate you are about animals and the profession. I think that is the main thing they are looking at you passion and motivation. I did psychology. chemistry and maths and know the interview process so if you want any advice or to know about anything else just dm and I'd be happy to help, I know how stressful A levels and uni applications are.

Hi @colossal-sock ,

I’m a second-year vet student at the University of Central Lancashire, and it’s so exciting that you’ve applied to study veterinary medicine! It sounds like you’ve been working really hard to get the right grades and gain valuable experience. Those experiences probably gave you a good idea of what working in this field is really like, and that’s exactly what admissions teams are looking for 😉
It can be hard to predict when or if you’ll get an interview offer because it depends on many things, like your predicted grades and how strong your personal statement is. Remember to focus on getting the grades you need 🤩. Universities are just starting to send out interview offers now, and this process can go on for months. Some people in my course didn’t recevied their interview offers until late March or even April!
The application process can feel a bit stressful, but you’ve already put in so much effort, which is amazing. I wish you the best of luck, and let us know how it goes!🍀

Best,
Martina - second year vet student 🐾

Hi @Nemo123456789
That’s amazing! Congratulations on getting your interview offer for UCLan! I’m a second-year vet student here, so I hope to see you next year! 🎉

You can find lots of information online about MMI interviews (the format most vet schools use), but here are the key points I think are most important:

be yourself: They want to see who you are, so be genuine. Show your passion for veterinary medicine and use examples to highlight your qualities.

prepare for common questions: Think about why you want to join this field and how your experiences (work or personal) have helped. Also, review some current topics in veterinary medicine.

know the course: Learn about UCLan’s veterinary medicine program. Understand what you like about it and why it’s the right fit for you.

I’m sure you’ll do great! Best of luck with your interview 🍀

Marti - second year vet student
