The most you can now do is mention it individually to each of the unis you are applying to by emailing them, I would imagine

Ok thank you, I had something similar but I was told by someone at my sixth form (who really should have known) that I would have to contact each uni individually

Don't worry, schools are notoriously bad at giving out advice
