The BTEC might be a little bit limiting if things don't go to plan and you don't end up joining the police. At least with the A levels you might end up at university.

Otherwise, it depends a lot on the force you are trying to join. Mostly, if you don't have a degree already, you would have to go on a degree apprenticeship, for which the prerequisite is a Level 3 qualification. Whether this is A levels or a BTEC is immaterial.

Ultimately, if you think you might struggle with the A levels, or not enjoy them - do the BTEC. If you think you'll be ok with the A levels or want better options medium term, do those.
