Hii, i’m going to study primary education, i’m really nervous that i won’t make friends since it’s such a small uni and i’ve heard it isn’t great for socialising😭

Hi, I'll be doing the Education, Sen and Mental health course. We're all in the same boat starting a new course, finding our footing and trying to find new friends. I'm happy to talk and be a friendly face 🙂

Hi, I was worried about the same thing when starting uni however, YSJ is quite a sociable uni. There may not be as many students at YSJ however we have plenty of sports and societies to get involved with even if you have never tried them before, (here is the link to the list https://ysjsu.com/Activities). Make sure to attend the freshers fair to get more information from the society members themselves. I made the majority of my friends in the K-pop Dance Society and it has now become the highlight of my week. Also, Primary Education is our largest course at YSJ so you will have plenty of classmates to interact with and hopefully form friendships with. Remember that everyone is in the same boat at the beginning of uni so don't be afraid of approaching random people on your course or in a society and starting a conversation. Don't know how to start the conversation, ask if you are in the right place and then introduce yourself (name, age, where you are from, your uni accommodation site, etc). I hope this helps. Don't stress too much and I hope you will have a wonderful uni experience. 🙂

Hello! I've applied for the same course at YSJ for 2025 and I was just wondering how long you waited to get an offer? It's been three weeks for me now and I'm getting antsy :smile:
