Go to a newspaper shop which has the oyster card sign and do it by cash/debit card there - tell them how much you want on it and they'll put it on.

One single journey with an oyster is about £2.90, I think. A fiver should see you through, at any rate =).

Can I top up at the tube station (euston)?

Go to the tube station
Touch it to the machine
It'll ask you how much you want to top up, usually goes up in £5 amounts
Card in, enter PIN
Touch in again to confirm
Leave.

This might help with the pricing

If you use oyster, it shouldn't be that much at all. It's the same amount for a single wherever you go. That's if you buy a ticket (I think).

I don't think tfl do jokes :s-smilie:

But do you have a 16-25 rail card? If so go to the tube station, and you can get your 1/3 discount applied to your oyster. You'll need to fill out a form, name, address, etc, but it does help quite a bit.
