hiii!! thank you thank you <33 further maths is great! it's definitely difficult but it's ultimately really rewarding when you understand it, and makes normal maths so much easier! you have to constantly be reviewing old topics, and actually doing the homework or you'll fall behind. idk if this applies for all schools but my further maths class is my most chill class, so you'll always be surrounded mostly by really supportive people
fr!! the weather has not been it, i get exactly what you mean, you're fr bringing me back to english gcse with that one BAHA
your gyg is acc one of the first ones i followed! good luck with ur gcse prep <3
oooo okay, that really does let me see fm in a new light thank you so muchh 😭🤍🤍
AHAH that was my intention, but literallyy uk weather literally has mood swings all the time i hate it omds
aww thank you so muchhh <33

hope today went well for you <33 and omg you have a gaza charity bake sale?? we also had a charity event recently that was raising money for sudan, but apparently we weren't allowed to do it for gaza bcs the teachers said it's too 'controversial' 😔😔 not meaning to start any debates here, i just wanted to say that its really nice that you have a bake sale for gaza at your school 🤍🤍

Long reply incoming…
Just wanted to comment on the grades thing coming from ‘toP StUdEnt’ according to my friends. Honestly if one of my friends told me they wanted A*s I’d be very supportive of that and give them any tips I could and reassure them that they can get there, because really what you need to do to get there is concentrate in class and do some consistent active revision to solidify your knowledge. I will admit that some people naturally ‘get’ the work more in class than some others (idk why). My one friend last year only revised the day before further maths gcse and got an A*, she just was somehow good at it. Now idek if I’d be like that, there have been some tests where I haven’t revised much and still gotten the top grades wise but I’ve never given myself that much freedom to not revise because I am so scared of failing.
This is what some people don’t seem to fully understand about the ‘top students’, is that we put so much pressure on ourselves for every single test, but we always get criticised. ‘I didn’t revise much I’m probably going to fail this’ - oh you’re being silly you’ll still get an A*. ‘I revised all weekend to be ready for this test’ - why waste your time on studying that’s so sad. ‘I’m really happy with my grade’ - yeah really?! ‘I’m disappointed in my grade’ - oh shut up you still did well, or you’ll get it easily next time. ‘You did so well on the test’ - says you.
There’s like no way to win, and I constantly feel even though my grades are there I’m not ‘cool’ enough or I don’t ‘consider’ other peoples feelings or I’m ‘pathetic’ for getting upset over a B. Now I know realistically a B is really good at A Level, my mindset over the past few years has just gotten to the point where I have such high standards for MYSELF that if I drop slightly from my average it’s like why did I put all that effort in?
The ‘A* students’ have their struggles too. I know you aren’t disregarding that or anything and Ik it would be annoying if they said I’d be happy with a B when that’s what most people get and it sounds like they’ve ‘settled’. I just wanted to let you know that they aren’t perfect or all knowing 😂
I understand you probably also find it harder if you feel ‘behind’. I don’t know how your academic record has been in the past but I’m confident it’s been good, but if you maybe haven’t had the top marks every time comparing to some of your friends you may feel like you have to catch up to get there. But I want to tell you this it is totally NOT ‘audacity’ for you to want those grades, why should I or any other student who has that goal deserve to talk about it anymore than you do? If it’s what you want and you work for it that’s what you can get!
You can be that very very smart student you’re referring to I have no doubt. This GYG is already a step there. And for the whole failing culture thing I think that’s everywhere for everyone, everyone is scared of missing out on their goals, so as long as you keep a positive attitude you can do it.
(Really hope this doesn’t come across as I think I’lm all high and mighty or whatever cause I’m really not - it makes me very uncomfortable when my friends label me the smart one, insinuating they are dumb at the same time and when I tell them they’re actually so smart and hardworking I get told to shh 😭 I think we can all work to those grades and I’m still working on it myself, I hope this came across as motivational ❤️ )
AND I AM ROOTING FOR YOU
OH MY GOD THIS ^^^^ It's so irritating because like I work so bloody hard because I put so much pressure on myself and then if I get a B on a test I will genuinely cry and everyone is SO not understanding, and the whole "you're being silly, you'll still get an A*" thing is so real and SO hurtful

yep!! i completely understand what you mean, back when i was in year 10 someone wore a BLM mask and the teachers said that was too political for school.... safe to say they left us alone when the entire school RIOTED
that's crazy though, the teachers aren't even setting it up or doing the donating, so they have no right to stop you fr

i'm so so sorry if my post came off as offensive !! that was not my intention at all. i completely understand where you're coming from, and i'm so proud of you for working hard! i also feel the same way when i get a B, i just mean when i'm talking to specific people i just get so scared of being perceived by them, if ykwim? but again i'm so sorry! i don't mean to sound hurtful in any way <3 again, i think it's just specific people at my school, because you guys seem a lot more mature than all of them by the looks of things

good evening folksss <3

i am still really tired, and didn't do as much work as i wanted, but still managed to get some done

in my free in the morning i did start off my revision on transition metal complexes and ligands, continuing this for an hour and a bit after school.

i replaced synthesis ppqs with the continuation of my ligands and complexes revision, and did review questions of that topic instead. i also did some pure year 2 revision in the form of some chain rule questions and did a first order differential equations q to explain to my friend. overall i worked for around 2 hours today? (i wanted to do at least 3)

the washing machine has been hogged this evening so i didn't do any laundry

and family cancelled and are coming tomorrow instead

i did go to the gaza bake sale at lunch, but my friends didn't like how the food looked and dragged me away lmao so i will try to donate another way, and research into non profitable charities! i'll lyk if i find any if you guys are interested.

interesting thought of today? most of the scientific knowledge we have is based on assumptions. if one thing is found to disprove one thing, everything we're learning could just be wrong, we'd have to learn everything again, and reconsider our prior understanding of the universe itself. we are the generation of scientists that could literally disprove einstein, newton, tesla, or anyone that made a massive impact in the science we're learning today. we've barely scratched the surface of the world that we're living in. i think that's fascinating idk this could sound like sm waffle LMAO

have a good evening,

No Dw it really didn’t, interesting how our posts showed two sides of the coin of high achievers. But nah I think the three of us just had our little rants 😂 And yeah if there are some cocky smart know it alls at your school don’t bother telling them - show them instead hehe

Omg yes the science thing is so cool but frustrating. For biology we’ve learnt about this theory that the phloem moves like carbs up and down the plant (leaf is where photosynthesis happens but when you cut a part of the top of a plant like sucrose can come out just like the bottom), they et have a theory to why but we’ve also got to know like the 10 things against the theory and it really shows that it is not reliable at all 😂

that's crazy, 10 things to disprove their best theory? and it's literally about plants. it's so interesting though that we could discover the truth behind all that, as annoying as it must be for you, having to memorise 10 different arguments 😭😭

That thought is so true tho. I looked into quantum mechanics and after reading a bit you realise everything you learned in school is just mostly wrong😭. Also what did you get in your AS and how did you find FM AS because I’m taking the same subjects as you and I’m in year 12 debating dropping chem next year
