lol  For fun (im in year 11) we went with the year 10 geographers to the river they are studying (no idea what its called put its in the peak district). Anyway we laughed at them because we knew what they had to do and how boring it would be for them :P
The year 11's (me) have to do CBD which is also boring but its only a 5 min walk from the school.
So far i have full marks, nearly finished it and i have to say damn you gotta say the obvious things e.g. :
We have to explain how we measure various factors on the house we are surveying so in this example we are relating the number of windows to the CBD.
The house has 5 windows and is further away from the CBD
How?
We stood outside the house and observed how many windows there were. We cannot take into consideration the back windows as we cannot see them unless we get permission from the owner of the house.

Thats one of them done. Granted that it was fairly crude it would still get you a mark. That was just an example of what i have to do and damn it takes the piss

Exactly.
Actually, 'Rivers' wasn't that bad. It is a huge relief when it's finally over.
I've finished my Evaluation yesterday...

ROFL, yeah, we had a storm that day, too!
I literally did nothing when I went there; except enjoyed myself with the people who didn't give a **** either...

Like, come-on, who'd be stretching a tape across a river. Seriously.
:p:

...Now for revising all of the stuff on the syllabus. At least that's not as boring...

lol, I know. We were supposed to measure the length of the river and collect samples but we all "forgot" our wellingtons and "appropriate" gear and we wore jeans and stuff, this turned out to be a good idea as we made the teacher get in the river and do it  Was hilarious and we gotta couple pictures of him falling in the river

Tbh, i really cant wait for A level geography. GCSE is a bit dull and boring and i really wanna explore more than just favelas in brazil or Glaciers and Aretes and stuff :P

You evil.... :p:
TBH, it was a bit ironic that day, the teachers and all the lower-set people did the work whilst all of the rest in the top set just messed about. Climbing rocks and stuff. :p:

The walk from different sites really did take the piss. And wet socks. Argh!

A-level Geography is cool; you'll get to pick your own individual investigation, both physical and questioning etc... and if your college is good, they'll even take you abroad to do it!

I hate and will always hate geography. Had to do a 20 page coursework on a hypothesis about if giving money to a park would improve it!

Reply 26

Yeah the school im hoping to go to takes the geography students abroad  Last year they went to Belgium woop
Cant wait (if i go there). Just sent my application form in last friday. hope i get in

Reply 27

Oh, which college?
I'm applying to 'global' colleges, apparently;
-Runshaw
-Clitheroe

Heard of either?

Reply 28

Ive heard of Runshaw before
Its a 6th form im going to you wont have heard of them because Its a local one :P
QMGS look it up on google and you will find it. Im 1 min walk away from it so ill be sorted if i go there ^^

Oh my goodness. I feel for you so much, I saw what the other dudes got up to with river coursework in my geography class last year, I pity you.

I didn't go on the trip to Wales, so didn't have to do the rivers; I hate natural geography with a passion, so did a study of the conurbation of which I live in. It was great fun, went around the streets putting surveys through doors etc, then went back a week later and collected. Very few people took part, I made up most of my data.

Personally, I feel you should take a stand and not do rivers. Do something more exciting. I did and I enjoyed the benefits of full marks, 52 pages of size 11 text down the line.

Im no longer doing geography.

That could be a very good idea. Jump right in.

I couldn't be doing with AS geography at my college, its all natural in the first year, yuck. I wish it was possible to specialise at A Level:shifty: .

Oh well, I have history to get me through! :woo:

It's not working out too badly - I am currently doing Maths and Chemistry self-teach, and I'm not doing badly at all.

Just have to find the time to fit it all in, I guess.
...I am not really fond of Geography though so it'll be a stick up the ass. :hmmm:

Impressive stuff, I love maths to the core, Im happy after every lesson and exam; how nerdy is that?!

Chemistry on the other hand...We are doing a module in enviro science and the chem is the bain of my life.

I wouldn't self teach if you don't enjoy it, that could be a dreadul disaster!

Are the maths and chem A level?
