can i keep up with someone doing a degree apprenticeship?

So unfortunately i didnt get into any degree apprenticeships yet so i am considering loughborough uni as my firm and wanted to ask, say there are 2 ppl, one who does a degree apprenticeship in dts and me who goes loughborough uni doing computer science, does a placement year, summer internships and more for my cv, can i keep up with the person doing the degree apprentiecship by the time we both graduate?
