I didn't write any conclusions (ran out of time). My teacher said you don't need to - is this true? Like will I be marked down?

I talked about her motive of order and how Briony attempted to disguise her motives as purely a product of her childhood naivety and out of a noble cause to protect her sister from the ‘maniac’ Robbie, her deception of the reader through this and making readers into detectives to reveal her more sinister motives born out of selfishness and jealousy of her sister. I also talked about focalisation and Briony as the true author. I can’t remember everything I said but that’s what I can remember off the top of my head. What about you? What did you write about??

wow sounds similar to me!!

p1 - briony wanting to protect her sister and naive misunderstanding of the letter etc (BUT this is undermined by the fact the way she is presented is from her own perspective)
p2 - older briony presents herself as restoring order and giving R+C a happy ending as a "final act of kindness" through her writing BUT this is limited - she can't publish the book, it would've been much kinder of her to actually withdraw her evidence
p3 - briony's true motive is her love of order and control, which is why she writes the book. so it is completely self indulgent and we cannot forgive her

lol my p2+3 seem way too similar but I did use different evidence and slightly different arguments so hopefully its okay. I went into metafiction for all of them of course

Same!! I talked ab how it’s applicable in 2024 bc of Rwanda

That's good to hear! What were your points for manipulation? I thought it was such a good question and planned it out too but i didnt know if my points linked well with the question so then moved onto the punishment question 😭 idek what I was writing, I gave up later tbf my hand was hurting bit too much ☹️

I wrote an manipulation of language and I think I did well with that but then I waffled about manipulation in order to harm and manipulating truth and I don’t think that was as good
Honestly it was not bad. I think the questions were wonderful. It’s so much better having 3 hours to write rather than 2 and a half like paper 1

Crimes are comic rather than horrific, or something along those lines

Wow, I found that exam to be really quite peaceful. The Briony question felt like something I'd done a million times as a homework essay, and the C question on criminals as victims was also straightforward. I also really enjoyed the extract, so much to say on feminism/unconventional tropes. Not what I was hoping for, but definitely not unwelcome
I hope that my essays are distinct enough though, I fear that my responses might be as simple as the questions lmfao

do you know if you get marked down for not a lot of quotations? like I had some but ultimately was running out of time so they weren't great and there weren't a lot. also did the same questions ! hope the grade boundaries aren't higher than last years

No, not really. Quotes are there to support your ideas. It's more better if you refined your focus on specific quotes (as I did) because your analysis comes across more better that way. Too many quotes can ruin your analysis and make you go off task. Most the model answers my teacher has showed me only use 2-3 quotes per question but they are clear and focussed, linking to the points being made. My teacher is an examiner for this paper ( I wish she was for paper 1 instead lmao). 😊

There is a requirement for the quotes to be quoted properly as it is open book but AQA do not specify how many quotes you need to include.
did anyone think the unseen prose for paper 2b was horrific. i had nothing to analyse. i linked the lack of quotation marks to sally rooney - normal people and that was literally it. the other questions were good tho

same, wtf was that unseen prose? some random schizo dude whose mum died. made no sense; the consensus was the same with the rest of my class. i just wrote a bunch about the narrative and structure so that i can tick off some marks
