guys for the extract about the wall; did you HAVE to link it to real life examples? i talked about things like how lanchester implied those in control are the most out of touch & the use of fear mongering & propoganda by governments/regimes ect,, BUT i did not give a real example (like boris, trump, rawanda). can my answer still score decently?

i'm the same, i rarely link to real life examples whenever i do unseen extracts, i just try to find the elements of political and social protest such as control, corruption, powerlessness ect. i did mention some marxist critique on a capitalist system, the defenders all working for those who hold all the power and kept down with small praise that gives them hope.... hopefully that will be enough because for some reason the boris/trump link just did not come to me in the exam.

heyy! I asked my teacher about this after the exam and she said context isn't necessary in the unseen extract questions. My teacher said A03 in this case is more about elements of social and political protest (oppression, power etc) so as long as you have identified them you should be fine! Examiners don't expect you to know context for a specific year etc so your answer will definitely still score decently !! 🙂 How did you find the rest of the paper?

As soon as I read "blond baby politician" I instantly thought of Boris but didn't mention him in my essay - but I did link it to Donald Trump and how he wanted to build a wall an separate Mexico and USA. Pure waffle that paper was, I hated it sm.😭

I don't think you should be stressing about real life examples. For some reason I find the mention of boris and trump hilarious. If you mentioned something like BREXIT that's fine since it was written near about that time. The main things the examiners are looking for is links to the genre and you've covered that. 🙂

anyone reckon the grade boundaries will be like 2019 this year as opposed to 2023? i think a lot of ppl struggled with the unseen in crime + i think the enduring happiness question in paper 1 made a lot of ppl confused

this is a horrible feeling but just remember, you don’t know until results! and grade boundaries shift. your perspective on the exam may also shift. hope you feel alright about it

i know for 100% fact i flopped, my unseen especially was atrocious, my q3 for paper 1 was barely answering the question, and the grade boundaries will hardly shift 😕 best case scenario i'll get a B. thank u for your reassurance tho it means a lot

im in the same boat. Need an A, got B for my coursework because I didn't try hard enough and there is no way I got an A overall. It's not the be all end all, you're not stupid and you're not the only one. If it comes to it I'm sure you can resit

issue is idk if my sixth form even does resits? and my teachers have such high hopes for me but i totally fumbled 😕 i honestly wouldn't mind resitting because i know i could do so much better and it's such a shame. i hope you end up getting the grades you want

think i got good grades in my other subjects so i don't think me getting a B in lit would be an issue with literature but even then, yeah more of a personal thing i know it'll bother me loads if i see on results day i was like 4 marks off or something
