my gsce life

i've seen a few people do this and i liked the idea of tracking my progress through year 9 up until my gsces. for reference, i am in year 10 right now.
subjects i'm taking
maths - my best and favourite subject and i want to take it at uni (my dream is maths at cambridge but we're still a while from there)
english - my worst subject (both lit and lang)
physics
chemistry
biology
history
latin
spanish
computing
additional maths
extracurriculars:
i am going to do my grade 7 piano exam this term and i have a green belt in kickboxing. i also ran a chess club last year so i want to do that again this year.
my goals:
i want to get all 9s, and then go on to study maths at cambridge. i also want to improve my fitness (not directly gsce related) so i'm trying to run
just to let you know:
i am a bit rambly so sometimes you might get my most useful revison technique ever and sometimes you might get my favourite food or how im coping with revision and socialising and extra curriculars - this is going to be about my life while doing me gsces not just how im revising. it's a way for me to hold myself accountable and also document my gsce journey

very forward thinking..i love it!
hopefully in a few years we will be celebrating you going to cambridge🥳🥳🥳

Make sure to have brakes in between. Our brain is actually only meant to be loaded for information for 25 minutes. After that it kind of switches of. If you have tiktok that time kinda shortens because tiktok reduces your attention span.Try the pomodoro method (i think i butchered the spelling) but it helps with long term memory instead of short term.

will definitely try it! i actually ended up deleteing tiktok because it was messing with my attention span

hey everyone! my aims of last week revising for the physics test FLOPPED so i desperately need to revise tomorrow. i'm already so tired from starting school though i'm so ready for the half term 😭 my subjects have been going well though - it's crazy how much more i enjoy the subjects i chose (e.g. comp sci, latin) vs subjects i was forced to do (e.g. english, sciences) in other news, i managed to run 20 striaght minutes without stopping which is a big deal for someone who couldn't even run the 800m in summer without a break! getting closer to that goal of 5k everyday!

don't stress too much about those end of unit test in year 11 they don't really matter and plus it just so that your teachers can predict what you may get at the end of the year , when i was in year 11 last year i didn't really care about those test and i still did reasonable, and i still smashed my teachers predictions(they didn't believe in me pulled out with 7 9's, 1 8 and 2 7's)

this week was exhausting! had a couple breakdowns along the way but made it to friday! i do have lots of homework, but i will try to finish it tomorrow so that my sunday is free. i also want to start prepearing for my LOTF essay because i am not in the country over half-term, which is when most of my revision should take place. i was thinking of starting to make character/theme/symbol mindmaps that i can add to later on. i also had my test today - it wasn't too bad, mainly just equations so i think i did alright. hopefully i converted all the units correctly🤞. also decided im doing a CREST award this year - we are doing a research project on mental health so hopefully that goes well. how is everyone feeling now that school has properly started and we are really into the swing of things?

Hope your exams go well!
hiii! this week was so much better than last week - i feel a lot more on top of everything and i actually managed to get a nice amount of sleep so im not just functioning off of coffee. is anyone else addicted to coffee or is it just me 😬. we have definitely started to get tests now - i have a chem test and a maths test and then a LOTF essay after half-term. does anyone ahve any tips on revising for english lit? so far i'm just making mind maps on key themes and characters but if anyone ahd any additional tips it would be much appreciated  maths and chem i feel alright about but maths is trignometry so i will be crying after my revision. i also had smc on tuesday and i think it went well (for me). i answered about 19-20 questions out of 25, so i think i'll get a silver. obviously would like to get gold but im happy with silver! my to-do list now is just to finish my history homework, finish LOTF pre-reading questions (only two left!), and revise for latin since i have a vocab test next week.

glad you week's been good and good luck for your upcoming tests! lol i hate trig too. sounds like you're potentially up for a gold in the smc!! my biggest tip for english lit is to look at examiner reports from the exam board and read the exemplar essays!! i used these to inform my essay plans since even though it's unlikely the same character would come up again in an exam, some of the analysis of quotations can be used for other essay topics as well! i was literally working at a grade 6 in english lit and doing this got me up to a 9!!
