Hi everyone!
Are you considering your accommodation choices for the University of Manchester right now?
In my first year I lived in Unsworth Park, here's the rundown of how it was:
-Flats have ten bedrooms, so you'll find yourself sharing with 9 other people
-You can find your flatmates before you move in by joining Facebook groups for 'UOM accommodation' and looking up the flat you've been assigned to
-The kitchen and living room are part of the same room, which is nice as it becomes more of a social area
-It's not catered, so you'll have to do your own shopping
-Bedrooms have an en suite with a toilet, sink and shower
-You have a keypass for your bedroom, main door to your flat and for the building
-Platt Fields Park is close by for a walk and breath of fresh air in between studying
-Buses come frequently to the University, get any bus with a 4 in the number and it'll go to Piccadilly (city center) but these can get busy in the morning so you'll want to leave for uni sometimes up to an hour before your lecture
-There are lots of bike stores if you'd rather do that!
-Sainsburies is a short walk from the accommodation, though it can be an expensive place to shop, so I preferred the Lidl by Whitworth Park
Please let me know if you have any questions and I'd be happy to answer them!

Hi my son starts his course in September and has accepted Unsworth Park. I have loads of questions! Are the beds 3/4 doubles or just normal singles? Is there room under the bed for storage boxes? Is it easy to cycle to uni or do you take your life in your hands? Is there plenty of bike storage at Unsworth and is it safe or do lots of bikes get stolen? Is there much noise from the new halls they are building nearby? How much space do you get in the kitchen for storing plates, pans etc and food? Are the flats usually evenly split between boys and girls? Are their cleaners and where do they clean? Thanks in advance for all the info.

Just generally, cycling is fine in Manchester. I've a close friend going into his third year and has never had anything stolen or more than 1 puncture. He didn't stay at Unsworth, so can't comment on specifics of bike storage there.

I'd also add that your son is unlikely to be spending much time there (awake) when building work is going on, he'll be at uni or doing something elsewhere.

Breathe, I know it's nerve wracking but he will be successful. My friend loves it there.

do you think they tend to group international students together in flats?

What would you say are the best blocks to stay at in Unsworth park like Carder, Honey, or so on especially if you want like a good mix of social and quite leaning more towards a social setting

Hi! I’m going for exchange and heard in general about pest issues at University of Manchester accommodations. I was wondering, did you deal with any of these issues in Unsworth park? What would be accommodations you recommend for cleanliness? Thank you!
