Anyone planning on starting their masters at Sheffield this September? would be nice to know some people before moving there
Hi, I am just about to finish studying my undergrad at the University of Sheffield, but planning on coming back to do a masters. Do you have any questions about the city or the university? During the first few weeks, there will be lots of events going on to help people meet up and make friends. What course are you doing? When I started the maths department had a mentoring system where an existing student would contact you and help you adjust to university, your department might have a similar scheme. Hi I had a question. if I say yes to having accepted offers at other universities when accepting my sheffield course offer, will this affect my place at Sheffield? Sheffield is my number 1 choice and out of the 2 other offers I have from different unis one of them I'm actively trying to withdraw my application but it hasn't been done yet and the other offer turned unconditional recently I haven't declined that offer only so I have a backup option. would the uni know if I have accepted offers else where too if I say I haven't?

I have an offer for 2 courses, one is cognitive neuroscience and human neuroimaging and the other is translational neuroscience (this is the course I plan on doing, only found out about it recently hence the two applications). also wanted to ask if you know if the last month of the year there's any in person requirements? only asking because one of the private accomodations I want to live in has a tenancy date of 7 Sept to 29 August (51 wks) but the course ends on 30 Sept. I live too far to travel back and forth from home for that last month but is accomodation doesn't allow extension of tenancy or anything.

Hi there!
Unfortunately as I am not a student within either of these fields, I cannot speak from personal experience with regards to whether there are any in person requirements in the last month of the term. However, you can chat to some of our current students via this link: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/study/chat
If you ask current students of that course, they should be able to give you updated course information regarding the nature of the final month itself. Sorry I couldn't give you a definitive answer but I hope this helps!

thank you and no worries!! I just had one more question. when accepting my msc offer it asks whether I've accepted offers for a place at another university which I have but plan on declining once my sheffield offer turns unconditional after uploading my certificate. do you know if saying yes to having accepted offers from other unis will threaten my offer/place at Sheffield? Sheffield is my number 1 choice so don't want to risk having the offer taken back.

Hi, I am actually not sure how it works with that, but I would guess that you would say you have not accepted other offers as you wont be accepting them once you have the offer at Sheffield. But it may be best to contact the admissions department about that one - +44 114 222 8030. Also, the master's you have applied for look great! I was thinking of picking either of those for my masters, but ended up going for the human anatomy and education one in the end (sadly does not exist anymore). I hope you get an offer and enjoy the course ) Evie (5th year medic at UoS)
