Makes sense. How did u calculate that? Cna you not use the half life method?

I think you can - 900 at start so find number of throws until 450 (I got around 2.8 ) then use lambda = ln2 / t1/2. My grade’s in God’s hands now though 🙏

i tried and got a value a fair bit off so I just did the rearanging of logarithm

I guess I should've done that but you can't use a gradient can you? I guess you use N=900e^-λt and sub in N and t?

I don't do AQA, what was so bad about the questions, I did it last year, and they were baaaddd, what sort of questions were they asking do you have any examples

Reply 583

Tbh we all should have known aqa were up to something devious after they gave us a somewhat reasonable paper 1

If I could explain the electrical potential question we got to you in words.... I would... but I'm still trying to process it as we speak

im predicting 50/85 for A*, 38/85 for A

I'd say even lower, that was way more than 4 marks harder than last year

are people saying the exam was bad? i thought it was easy maybe i just did a lot of revision

Reply 588

Troll, you prolly dont even do physics

I came out of it thinking I did really well (paper 1 I didnt) but now I'm aware I got 1.4 wrong, potentially the time constant one and the decay constant. Speaking of, does anyone remember the capacitance in the capacitors question?

31.0 microfarrads I think?

I used to get straights As now I’m looking at whether I’m gonna pass a level physics after that. I wanna cry

guys i got 44 for my decay constant

omg same I got 44.8 :frown: think that was from using ΔΝ/ΔΤ, instead of using N=N0 e -λt

i did use the exponential formula, but i found the gradient was -lambda, which was 44?? i knew i was meant to get around 0.25 as that would make n=4 but no idea how

Ok thank God because that checks out with my 8.87x10⁵ resistance and my time constant being 27.5 seconds. I hope 27.5 was right

how can you have a time constant larger than the scale of time they gave in the question?
