Guys can we just get an essay stating the importance of nitrogen or would it say nitrogen containing compounds

I don't think your answer would change?
Ok this is probably such a stupid question but i've been practicing essays and it just keeps coming up and stumping me. So i'm talking about cohesion-tension theory (e.g in 'importance of water') and im so confused about why water moving up the plant is actually important?? likee just so it can reach cells at the top? im sorry im so confused

also one question : is cohesion tension theory too irrelevant to talk about in an essay on the importance of diffusion

maintains structure of stem and keeps plant upright?
allows for water to move from roots to leaves which can then be used in photosynthesis etc

hey, are the topics on paper 3 going to be the ones not included in 1+2, or will some topics come up again? like can we prepare by eliminating the topics in the other papers

nah they're gonna have some of the same topics come up again but ones having not come up on 1+2 is still an indicator that they might be on paper 3

guys what 5 topics could be used for an essay on importance of water, i can't think of any from paper 2 besides osmoregulation

there’s stuff for both year 1 and year 2 content, so apart from osmoregulation you could talk about:
• waters role in metabolic processes such as photolysis in the light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis, could talk about hydrolysis reactions for lots of different topics e.g. hydrolysis of ATP
• hydrogen bonding giving water its cohesive property and link to cohesion-tension theory in xylem, and also waters role in translocation in phloem allowing for mass flow
• hydrostatic pressure of blood plasma, could link to tissue fluid and osmosis, could also link to osmoregulation and ultrafiltration
• waters role in the counter-current system for gills in fish and the importance of the oxygen concentration gradient
• other properties of water such as its high latent heat of vaporisation providing a cooling effect and its high specific heat capacity acting as buffer to temperature changes

I think its about needing water at the leaves for photolysis in the light dependent reaction of photosynthesis

I dont think these have come up yet and if they have prob just a tinyy bit?
Cardiac cycle
Mass transport in plants, fish, insects
Haemoglobin
Sodium potassium pump
Immunity
Respiration
PCR
resting potential
Osmoregulation
The eye
Pacinian corpuscle
Epistasis
Taxis & kinesis
Stem cells
Nitrogen/phosphorus cycle
Control blood glucose
Protein structure, bondings (& exo/endopeptidases)
Aseptic technique
Structure of nephron
Oestrogen TF & cancer
TF acetylation/methylation
Conservation/farming
Biomass… N=I-(F+R)
Virus?
HIV?
Antibodies?
Meselson stahl N experiment

no index of diversity either
guys cld we get asked something like causes of disease?? I think it's been asked in the past but I wld be so stumped if I got that

Miss Estruch explained that its important as it provides water to the cells. Which you can then link the importance of the water in the cells in the light dependent reaction in Photosynthesis. Then to finish that you can explain why Photosynthesis is important for the plant. My teacher always tells me to then link back if its about plants why having no plants taking place and how that would impact other organisms. Such as having no plants there would be lots of Carbon Dioxide therefore, making the environment uninhabitable. I think it might be too much information, but when I have done this I have scored better on the essays

I don't think so as it we could only really talk about HIV and the immune system. I think it would be too vague. But I feel like they could ask this question but link it to other topics. Maybe something to do with mutations and that sort of thing
Hear me out, biologically speaking, pineapple on pizza or no?

heart- atheromas->thrombosis
diabetes- type 1+2 --> insuling and blood glucose
lung disease- asthma --> oxygen for respiration
