Could be literally pros vs cons of globalisation which would be fab. Could also be about the UN pros and cons or pros and cons of a TNC. My teacher thinks they might ask about unequal power relations (USA) but tbh they could form a 20m out of literally any of the case studies

what's the case study for the un or usa power relations

Contemporary urban environmental issues such as atmospheric, water pollution and dereliction present a greater threat to urban areas than economic inequalities. To what extent do you agree with this statement
does anyone have a clue about how you would answer this question

i’d give a neutral view that both are equal threats, you’d discuss the problems and management strategies for environmental issues and apply case studies e.g. london’s air pollution issues and strategies such as congestion charges and clean air acts and say how severe each issue is, then i’d do the same for economic inequality with issues and strategies to manage it and again apply case studies like london and mumbai

These are the notes I have on the USA - unequal power economically, politically and through their military:
IMG_1567.jpegIMG_1568.jpegIMG_1569.jpeg
And this is what I’ve got on the UN (creating inequalities and injustices VS promoting growth)
IMG_1571.jpegIMG_1572.jpegIMG_1573.jpeg
What have people done for this case study ; Case study of a specified local area to illustrate and analyse the relationship between place and health related to its physical environment, socio-economic character and the experience and attitudes of its populations.

Wow this is great!!! My class haven’t done nearly as much about the US do you think it would come up???
There has been one on TNC vs UN but they haven’t asked the UN on its own

you dont necessarily have to talk about the US but the UN in general and how the winners of WW2 (UK, USA, China, Russia and France) have the power of veto and can blockage any sort of 'law' passing if they disagree. This is an example of unequal power within the UN and how not all countries benefit as there are winners and loosers

Yes I mentioned this in a practice essay I did 🙂 I would love another UN related question in the exam!! Other points that you could add to the case study would be Saudi Arabia becoming elected as a member of the Human Right Council although they have a poor record on that (later found that this was in collaboration with the UK bc of a secret trade deal) and then their success in advancing global health for example Malaria vaccination programme (eg. mortality rate dropping by around 50% from 2000-2019)

we did the area that my college is located in (not the city as a whole)
For the distant place study in changing places does it have to be outside of the UK as my school has only done Bristol vs Brick Lane ?

On the AQA a level geography specification 3.2.2.2 says that you need to have a local place and at least one further contrasting place and 3.2.2.4 is place studies one local place (mine is longbridge) and one contrasting distant place (dharavi). Are your guys 3.2.2.4 case studies the same as your 3.2.2.2 ones?

yeah you only need to have two place studies for the whole topic
My school is doing Medellin(2nd largest city in Colombia) as our contrasting place for changing places. I've just read the teaching guidance provided by AQA which says the place should not have over 20 000 population and now I'm worried Medellin is too big. Has anyone else learnt a place that is a large town or city? Does anyone know how much of an issue this is as I dont know whether to last minute learn a whole knew place.
