What are people thinking about a longer question on informal vs formal representations? Or possibly why people contest, role of government or 24h city? I’m just looking at what hasn’t come up for a while…

Ew, ew, and ew. Let’s not speak that into existence pleasee. If it’s anything other than the case studies I’m done for 😞

Can you possibly remember what the 8 / 3 markers were on for CSMP? Sorry!
yeah of course, sorry I don't have access to the actual figures for it but the questions were:

3 marks- use one piece of evidence from fig.1 to explain how this informal representation of a place represents and inner city are (the figure was a photo of the tv set of coronation street)

8 marks- Using evidence from fig.2 suggest how social inequalities can affect peoples daily lives in different ways (figure w shows rural settlements in Niger, an LIDC, and the Netherlands, an AC)

6 marks- Explain how flows of money and investment into an area can help to shape its place profile over time.

Wdym by migration policies, I don’t remember learning that

So basically I THINK migration polices is like in Canada they have the immigration policy where they have the points based system and essentially what that is they give people more points if they are youn, a graduate and have skills that can fill the skill gaps in Canad?
And the there is the EMIGRATION policy in Pakistan where the gove4nment promotees emigration because of economic remittances as well as social remittances which help funding in their national services like health care, education, transport and general development in their country.
Hope that helps.

EDIT - oops, sorry I didn't realise someone already replied to your Q

Do you guys reckon EDC will come up again for global migration as it came up twice in a row in 2023 and 2022 paper

2023 - With reference to a case study, examine the interdependence between one EDC and countries connected to it by migrant flows.

2022 - ‘The impacts of international migration are always beneficial.’ Assess this statement with reference to a case study of one EDC.

i was wondering this too surely they should ask ab LIDCs and ACs now but idk im stoll gonna revise my edc case study in case we get a 16 marker that lets us talk about all 3

do you think the CSMP 16 marker could be on place making since it has never been asked except on the sample paper (which doesn't really count)?

Maybe rebranding in Barcelona?? Or recent regeneration in Birmingham. Not too sure though

Reply 53

In the spec that includes local community groups, planners and architects and 24hr city so i guess that. But what do you do for A02 evaluation?

Reply 54

KQ4 (I did Detroit as a case study) hasn’t been a 16 marker before, do you think that could come up for CSMP

Reply 55

ohh thanks so much,
I haven’t done Pakistan or Canada as case studies..
Is Australia having a special visa for Chinese citizens that invest £1million pounds count as migration policy?
And then China attracting Nigerian students with special visas and then possibility of staying in China after education?

Anyone think it’s possible there could be a question assessing the extent of a factor which influences place identity?
They haven’t asked a place identity specific question for a 16 marker since 2018?
I doubt there’ll be rebranding again because 2023 was rebranding in terms of place making processes and I think 2020 was just assessing successful rebranding strategies.

I suppose structural economic change could be another? Surely they wouldn’t do rebranding again?

Reply 57

Yeah I was thinking it would be place identity most likely, either that or structural economic change

in 2021 there was a place identity question on present day connections

What could be on if it’s structural economic change since that came up in 2019 with ‘the impact of structural economic change in people and place is mainly socio-economic’
