What could be on if it’s structural economic change since that came up in 2019 with ‘the impact of structural economic change in people and place is mainly socio-economic’
i also think structural economic change might come up again in some form, however globalisation has not come up in a while either

for globalisation, i think it could come up as a 6 marker because there is not much ao2 for it, but you can talk about how globalisation increases the interdependence and interconnectedness of goods, ideas and services and global shift of manufacturing industry of coffee were exported to countries like Brazil and how TNCs caused economic restructuring with loss of employment in primary and secondary sectors in ACs with increase of tertiary and quaternary sectors?

Any predictions for human rights??

Reply 65

Predictions for this paper:
17 marks split across Migration (with 8 marker)
16 marker on Human Rights

CSMP 16 marker - Impact of structural economic change (e.g Birmingham)
I've seen people discuss place making/rebranding, I think its unlikely to come up as it came last year (2023) with reference to a case study (e.g Barcelona).

Migration 8 marker - Impacts of migration in LIDCs (e.g Laos)?

Human rights 16 marker - Lot of focus on global/national governance in LIDC case study (e.g Afghanistan), so gender inequality? Not sure though...

The only reason I predict the spread of marks across Migration/Human rights is due to this possible pattern:
2018: Human rights - 16 marker (1)
2019: Human rights - 16 marker (2)
2020: Migration - 16 marker (1)
2021: Migration - 16 marker (2)
2022: Migration - 16 marker (3)
2023: Human rights - 16 marker (1)
2024: Prediction of Human rights - 16 marker (2)
*Can be applied to other options on the paper of course

But they could do what they want its OCR and theyre annoying 😂

looks like 16 marker for power and borders can come up again

From the last paper, I've noticed they're picking stuff they haven't done before. Because there's sm content for human its harder to predict but here are my predictions:

CSMP

8 marker on globalisation or measures of social inequality

16 marker on evaluating the role of players in driving economic change

Migration (8 marker)

8 marker on migration policies in LIDCs or ACs (interdependence came up last year, and they haven't done migration policies yet so I think its likely to come up)

Human Rights (16 marker)

16 marker on gender inequality

In terms of geographical skills, we had loads of limitations in paper 1. So I think we will get a map for CSMP, and comment on the usefulness for a data presentation technique in migration.

The specimen paper question was ‘Social factors are the most important influences responsible for gender inequalities.’ Discuss. [16]
so I guess you could just swap in economic or political or something along those lines

Social factors are the most important influences responsible for gender inequalities.’ Discuss.
Does anyone have an exampler essay for this question as I am trying to write it but is having difficulties finding case study knowledge and expanding my points. My case study is India.

These are the points I have
social factors

Social factors have a huge influence on gender inequality. India has a social hierarchy which is linked to cultural and religious ideas which is discriminatory against women. Women have a secondary position in society and come after men, these long standing inequalities force them to be dependent on men.

This led to honour killings which is unlawful killing of a woman who is perceived to have brought dishonour to the family. These murders are by a woman's family as revenge for bringing shape upon the household honour.

Honour killing is a severe social factor that is an expression of the patriarchal system which suggests that women are treated with disdain even by their own families.

However point can be??

Economic factors have a huge influence on gender inequality as women have limited access to employment opportunities and are often expected to remain at home, raise children, and conduct domestic chores.

Even women who have completed secondary and tertiary education still have not entered the workforce, this makes it hard for them to not abide by social norms of marriage and immediate motherhood.

Only 27% of female participation in the labour force. Limited access to the workforce adds to dependency on husbands so women are less financially independent. HOWEVER Social factors such as early forced marriages impact the employment opportunities of women. Early forced marriages have a negative impact on the girls their education ends, job prospects are diminished and they are more vulnerable to poverty and exclusion.

Lastly political

Women have limited political empowerment through lack of participation in councils and government institutions. Underrepresentation of women in parliament can lead to a lack of priority being given to women’s rights issues or concerns. Women have poor representation in India's parliament with only 11% of women make up the parliament. This means the government has less pressure to be aware of women’s rights abuses as there aren't enough women in parliament to speak up and address these issues.

HOWEVER POINT?
