getting out of going swimming

my parents are planning a beach trip for next week.

i have not gone swimming since i was 13 because i am extremely insecure about my body. i'm ok with wearing a swimming top, it's the bottom half i need to cover up. if i tell my mum this, she will tell me i'm being ridiculous and she will only further force me to go/ to wear the swimming costume. she's going to get frustrated and shout at me

i don't have time to go shopping for/order a 'modest' swimsuit, the only one i own is a one piece and i do not have any cover-up skirts. i don't know what to say to get out of it (she knows i won't be on my period so i can't say that) and i don't know what to do because if i go out in a swimming costume i am 90% sure i will either cry or have a panic attack

wear shorts so more stuff is covered, or wear light trousers. When you get there, just tell them that you dont feel like swimming and say you want to tan instead. She can't force you to go swimming. If she does make you wear the clothes, suck it up and bring a different outfit to change into so at least you have smt to fall back on. If it makes you feel any better, loads of people are insecure at the beach - they're all wearing stuff that exposes them alot, so don't feel as if you think everyone is going to be judging you because everyone is too focused on themselves.

Wear some shorts you don’t mind getting wet, you can wear them over your swimming costume and it will give you some extra coverage. You don’t have to swim if you don’t want to but you could go into knee hight or so 😊

buy one online. they are insanely cheap. takes about 5 mins... i bought my burkini in 2022 and didnt know about shein... it was 30 quid 😭 my little sister's one was 7 euro. and arrived weirdly soon. and there's nothing wrong with being insecure, i'd be crazy insecure if i didn't wear modest stuff swimming 😅

or u could tell ur mum that ur insecure. i did a couple years back and she was all 'oh no' and let me buy the (ugh overpriced) burkini. could be worth the gamble, maybe not. your decision!
