funding for second degree

I am 39 I have degree and pgce that was funded by student loans back from 2007-2013 and masters that was free from uni has it was funded by them. it was in career I felt push into and now that I am older I want to do second degree in either med school , psychology or science but when I look the information is not very clear on what funding is available for part time in biological science and physical science what sciences come under those brackets med school I know is funded depending on whether is 4 years or 5 years but if that's not option I want to know what funding is part time for psychology and what sciences are covered either at brick uni or open university part time

Just to confirm what type of science course is it you're looking to study at Brick or the Open University? Thanks, Jason

Hi there,

We don't have list, you need to tell us the course and university you wish to study at and we can check the system to see if its one our exception courses to be eligible for finance.

Thanks,
Claire

Hi Aj84,

Psychology is an exception course if studied part time so you will be eligible for funding (tuition fee loan and maintenance loan) for these part time courses you have listed even if you already hold a degree

Thanks,
Calum

Even if it’s open uni course ?

Hi Aj84,

Yes, Open University courses are always classed as part time from a student finance perspective although you would only be eligible for a maintenance loan if we receive medical evidence that distance learning is your only option

Thanks,
Calum

What classes has medical evidence? I care for some one and I am dyslexic

Reply 11

Hi ,Aj84

We would need confirmation from a medical professional that distance learning is your only option for study, having dyslexia and caring responsibilities may not necessarily be sufficient unfortunately

Thanks,
Calum
