UAL halls for Wimbledon

hello,
I've just firmed my offer for Wimbledon college of arts and am looking at applying for my halls of residence. Just wondering if anyone knows where Wimbledon students tend to stay, Furzedown is probably my top choice as its closest and cheapest but its still abut 46 minutes away and you have to navigate busses. Would like to know if I'd be around other Wimbledon students by staying there or if there's a better choice for accomodation?
thanks!

I have the exact same question! Nice to know I'm not the only one struggling with accom for WCA! I really am a sociable person and would like to mix with people from different courses! Let me know if you find anything out!

hello, so glad to hear there's others going to WCA! I'm thinking that I'll definitely put Furzedown as my top choice as I've found out there is a free shuttle bus from the accom to the nearest tube station which is such a relief as travel will be quicker and socialization will be easier. Now I'm just uncertain about what to put for my other preferences for accommodation as not many others seem to be appealing. I'm the same as you and want to socialize, Its so nice to know I'm not the only one with this issue tho!

My daughter put Sketch house for first three choices, as it was the only one she liked. Didn't really like Furzedown, due to the tiny kitchens and lack of socialising space, plus 20 min walk from tube at night. We initially didnt consider Sketch, as we thought it was too far, but I timed it from Sketch reception to Wimbledon station as 43 minutes (that was with a wait at Vauxhall, so it may have been quicker changing to District line at Victoria). Took us 10-12 mins to walk from Wimbledon Station to WCA, so 55 mins in total. Only 10 mins more than Furzedown. Another big advantage from commute/ safety pov is that Sketch is literally two mins 30 seconds walk from tube station.
She put Costume store as 4th choice and Furzedown as 5th, purely because of cost. All the others were so expensive. Sketch is pricey per week, but it is one of the few that doesn't force you to sign up to 50 weeks, which makes it cheaper than a lot of the others.

Thanks - didn't even consider sketch as north of river. Good to know though he won't be only one who is not at Furzedown

Hi I had a terrible time at furzedown theres no socialising (unless you like smoking in a shed!) and tiny kitchens with no windows, please dont choose it based on comute, the bus takes an hour door to door and everything else takes over an hour. the shuttle bus barely ran the year i lived there (2022-23) so the half hour walk from the station was grueling and felt pretty unsafe. other accoms may have longer commutes on paper but are actaully wayyy esier as they are near tube stations and again, much better socialising!!! Its the biggest piece of advice I can give, steer clear of Furzedown/Cedars!
