yeah, women, education, religion, healthcare.. ect. The last society and cultural changes Q was How far do you agree that the CCP was very successful in suppressing religious practice in China in the years 1949–76? (2021)

Hi I do!

Section A (Source):

Q1- How far could the historian make uses of Source 1 and 2 to investigate the methods used to establish control in the early years of CCP rule in China?

Section B:

Q3- To what extent was Mao’s personal power challenged by other leading members of the CCP in the years 1957-76?

Q4- How far do you agree that the Cultural Revolution had great success in eradicating the ‘four olds’ from Chinese society?

any predictions for conformity and challenge ?))

Not entirely sure on the specific topics but I feel like themes 1,3, and 4 will definitely come up. I had a look at all the themes that came up since 2017 to 2023, theme 2 has been in every single paper, theme 1, 3, and 4 and has only came up three times. I’m guessing theme 4 as a source, since last time it was a source question was in 2017, and then I’m guessing theme 1 and 3 as non sources. Or edexcel might decide to include theme 2 again but if they do, I highly doubt it would be a source, so basically my predictions for the exam are one of these options:

1) 2.4 for source, 2.1 and 2.3 non sources (either way around)
2) 2.3 for source, 2.2 and 1.2 non sources
3) 2.1 for source, 2.2 and 2.3 for non sources
4) 2.4 for source, 2.2 and 2.1 for non sources

I really hope that 2.2 doesn’t come up again cause that’s ridiculous, it’s come every year now so edexcel needs to switch it up a little. But if it does come up, it will most likely be a non source question since it’s been a source question for 4 years, but I definitely think themes 1,3 and 4 will be coming up in some form.

Any predictions for the Russia in Revolution 1894-1924 exam?

Reply 75

I think the Mao's China source could possibly be either cultural revolution or something theme 2 (GLF has already had a source back in like 2020 so maybe something like collectivation/communal living?? I feel like that part of theme 2 hasn't been tested very much) since theme 1 and 4 had sources the last 2 years. But edexcel will probably decide to prove me wrong lol

That's true, I was just assuming it wouldn't since they haven't repeated a specific topic in a source yet but they definitely could if they wanted to

Any predictions for India anyone? - also does anyone know what questions came up last year??

I do india as well and we had the last years exam as our mock and the questions were
1. ‘The 1920–22 non-cooperation campaign was the most important influence on the growth of nationalism in the years 1914–22.’
2. ‘The Government of India Acts of 1919 and 1935 made fundamental changes to India’s relationship with Britain.’
