I did really well on the source and breadth question for empire. But I chose the Q on Western Australia which went so badly, I didn't even know the date they settled and I think I messed up my chances at getting an A* in History and also my firm Uni. Edexcel exam board with really mean this year, when I looked back at the textbook, there was literally 4 lines on the settlement on Western Australia. 🥺🤮🤮😭😭

I need to know why you'd choose Western Australia 😭

We all expected India to come up and America + Australia to definitely not come up, but hey, Edexcel enjoy playing with us. 1000% they have someone in here 🤣. Despise Canada with a passion but there was loads to write about in that source which it made it relatively easy. I did have trouble trying to argue why the source was limited tho🤔. America was unexpected but question was beautiful as have done it multiple times before. Breadth trade question was also lovely. Didn’t even bother reading the navy one.

I didn't even bother studying navy

Tudor questions were mean!!! I managed but I hope it’s enough because I want an A for history but I don’t think I did as good on my first paper. How did everyone do?
I did foreign support for section B and parliament for section C

What did you put for the parliament question? I didn’t revise parliament at all, so I’m not sure whether my arguments are correct or what my rough mark may be (all monarchs covered with decent OK through out).*
Main arguments*

No significant change: The role of parliament stayed the same for the whole duration. I can’t remember the refute point*

Significant change: The scale at which parliament operated grew in size, e.g., numbers of MP’s and the number of times parliament was called parliament, changing over time, refuted with time on the throne, and major issues*

For Significant Change: Changing Landscape and Background of Those Who Made Up Parliament with Rising Borough Representation in the House of Commons, and how it Influenced Legislation, e.g., under Elizabeth, the 1598 Poor Law Act (can’t remember refute point)*

Wasn’t a fan
Did the borough q without knowing what a borough was lmao

I also did the borough q. It was stupid that they made a question which only had 2 paragraphs dedicated to it in the textbook

Reply 371

For 35 Section C, was it a bit odd that both of the questions were about trade.

Those are great points!!!
I did 1- significance for granting taxation and withholding it in some key moments - e.g. what led to wolseys amicable grants, twice during Elizabeth. But then I said it was granted most of the time and the subsidy of 1513 made it less conflictual.

2- significant over religious debates- eg all the acts passed after the reformation and the theory of the “puritan choir” under Elizabeth and factions w Catholics. However I said ministers from the privy council like Cromwell and Cecil acted as whips and parliament was hardly summoned or would debate much over legislation. Also parliament didn’t really gain any powers as i argued it was merely confirming rather than conferring power to Henry as head of the church since the start

3- professionalism w the gentry joining, debates under monopolies and then however they were managed by patronage and rotten boroughs meant Elizabeth put mps she liked

I mentioned more examples but those were my key points! overall I argued its significance didn’t increase to a large extent despite reforms and stuff. Sadly I didn’t have time for a conclusion but I did small evaluations at the end of each point and mention my argument in the intro so hopefully it doesn’t make me lose too many marks

Source was on Canada, about the problems face and the attitudes of the governor in 1837.
Depth was in between a question on America (forgot what the actual question was cause I didn’t do it) and Australia which the question asked how far do you agree that the main motivator of establishing a settlement at Western Australia was because of commercial interests.
Breadth navy question said something like “the power of the navy was the main reason for the ….” Forgot the rest and I didn’t do the trade question so I forgot it.

The question in America was : how far did the rebels of America contributed for the end of. War of independence. In section c the first question asked the role of the Royal Navy in boosting commercial success . The second one was a comparison between trade with America and trade with East (Singapore Hong Kong etc)

Study the night before because that Paper 2 ruined my mood

Decide to skip New Deal, 1/5 chance of it appearing in the exam

Study Geographical Distribution because I'll 100% answer the question

Feel confident, think I can predict what could come up

Day of test, wake up early to cram just a little bit more

Convince myself New Deal won't come up

Open Paper

Question One: How valuable is a source in discussing the AAA?

Well, that's OK. Ill find marks elsewhere.

Go to back of the exam booklet

Question Seven: Levittowns

Do the Film and Fiction question

End up doing pretty well (surprisingly)

i was really banking on new deal not coming up cause i was thinking, what are the chances of it coming it up 3 years in a row AND being a source when it was a source 2 years ago?? my thought process was also if it was an essay, i would just do the other question cause i revised everything but the new deal, i was so sure it was not gonna come up

i had no idea and still dont know what the aaa was 😭

also that geography question was foul, thankfully the fiction and film one wasnt that bad but i also didnt revise photos and lithographs cause i genuinely believed they wouldnt give a question with it being the focus

oh well, at least history is over now ❤️
