I can't help you with english language since I didn't get a 9 in that, but I can help you with english literature! My tactic was to look at as many exemplar essays online as I could, and to try and use analysis in those essays to help me come up with my own essay plans for topics that hadn't recently come up. I found it really helpful, and even though the questions in my exam weren't ones I had made essay plans for I was able to pick up the bits of analysis I found in exemplar essays and reword them to fit the context of the question. This technique was really useful for me, and helped me to go from a 6 to a 9 in lit.

I'm doing my GCSE right now but I got a 9 in my language mock. The trick is to look for synonyms of basic descriptive words like luminescent instead of glowing, plan a few basic descriptions eg. Of a girl/tree because nature often comes up in pictures and you can use characters in stories. Throw in as many similies and metaphors as you can, it doesn't matter how absurd they are or how good it sounds. For stories, the plot doesn't matter as much as people think, it's all about techniques. Try to link the beginning to the end, say the 'man' instead of the man to get points for foreshadowing and grammar techniques. Describe little things like a button, talk about the material, the shape, it remind you of the way your grandma sewed etc. For ; use it instead of and/full stop because it links 2 main clauses. That's all I can really think of, I hope it helps.

Ohh that's only the last question. For the rest of the paper it's all analysis eg. What does the adjective red symbolise. Not too sure how to explain it. There are lots of videos on language though eg. Mr bruff.
