I am currently studying level 2 English and maths at college, except I need help with maths because I have dyslexia and was let down while I was at school. I left school in 2014 with no grades in either English, Maths, or Science subjects, so I couldn't go on to do A-levels or an apprenticeship.
After being in a mental health hospital in 2022, I decided to go back to college. After spending nearly the hall of 2022 inside a hospital, I went back to college in September 2022, and I studied level 1 English and maths, and now this year, I'm studying level 2.
I've decided to hire a private tutor to study Math, further maths, and imperial system math to achieve the professional standard for GCSES and the grades I need to prepare for higher education or an apprenticeship.
Advice: How can I become proficient at mathematics to improve my chances of getting into a suitable University or apprenticeship?
I grew up with Metric, so I would need to use that as a starting point before learning the imperial maths system.
What should I tell my private tutor?
Does anyone want to chat about my educational goals?
First, I would need to study for my level 2 English and maths to get GCSE equivalent GCSEs and preaccess courses. I would need to save for later on during my studies in case I want to go to University later on, whether I want to do an apprenticeship or not.
Here is my education plan: Level 2 English and maths plus a level 2 Plumbing Certificate and an apprenticeship level 3 as an apprentice electrician for four and a half years before working full-time. If I ever want to go to University later on, I must study at college for an extra three years.
1st year: GCSEs Maths, English and Science
2nd-year: pre-access course
3rd year: access course
