University choices for Computer science

Hi,

I am currently in year 12 and am thinking of Uni options for computer science. My predicted grades are Math-A*, Further Math-A*, Physics-A, Economics-A, EPQ-A*. I got 88777777665 for GCSEs. I have a bundle of extracurriculars I am doing for Compsci,

I am thinking of applying to Cambridge/Imperial/KCL for my target unis and they all require A*A*A/A*AAA and I have City,Uni of London as my safety at ABB. I have thought about other Unis such as Bath/UCL/Surrey as another one of my five options.

I was wondering if my choices of uni so far allow me to have a good graduate salary and are respectable(especially city, uni of london). I mostly want to study in London but could consider Bath or Surrey. what would you advise I pick for my 5th option. I also have to take STEP and TMUA, so would taking the STAT for UCL be a big burden.

Sry, for all the questions, Thanks for the help

Rather than thinking about going to university in the hope that you might get a good job, why not decide which job you want to do and then work out which university course will give you the best opportunity.

For me, courses that offer a sandwich year are hands down better than three year degrees because you get that infinitely valuable year's experience in the bag. I would take a graduate with a year's experience over a pure 1st class honours Oxbridge grad any day.

Good luck!

Personally I would have Cambridge & Imperial at the top of your list. KCL are not in the same league. Another you should consider for their reputation is Warwick. Outside of that you should consider a course which includes a placement year as experience counts for a lot. You might also like to look at degree apprenticeships as these give you a degree, practical experience and usually an offer of a job, plus no student debt!

I'd also get City off your potential list. You're better than that. Maybe consider Southampton or Queen Mary as your fallback option.

someone who studies at city (albeit at the business skl doing finance), city student life is mid and the campus is a bit depressing lol. which is why I reapplied and now I'm swapping to UCL (better rep than KCL for sure although up to you).

What would you say about city graduate prospective and things like connections with other companies. Also, is the area around the campus depressing aswell or does it have some sort of "London" look to it lol

idk socially wise the elite unis are way more socially integrated. if u arent at lse ucl imperial kcl ur kind of not in the loop.

graduate wise aswell city is no where near the other unis u mentioned (kcl, ucl, icl,Cambridge) unless u study at the business school which is highly regarded. idk about comp sci

and also yea the part of London city is in is a bit meh (Islington). the campus comparatively to kings or ucl tho is f*king ugly lol .

Hi, if you don't mind please could you tell me what extra-curriculars you have done for computer science? Thanks 🙂
