Rejected by Uni of Glasgow for Law

I got rejected by Glasgow uni on Friday and I don’t think I’ve ever been more upset!! I don’t know what to do because I don’t want to go to the other unis I have offers for. I also don’t want to take a gap year and apply next year but I don’t know at this point. I’m not sure if I can get over this rejection tbh as this was my dream university and the only reason I got rejected was at the fault of my guidance teacher (forgetting to sign me up for a fourth course).

Similar thing happened to me. I got rejected from 4 unis that were close to me and the only uni that accepted me was literally my last option. in the day of the interview I was close to cancelling it, but ended up doing the interview and got an offer the next day. Point is you getting rejected from that uni, you might not want to hear this but maybe it was for your own good. If I was in your situation I would accept the offer one of the other unis gave me, and try not to think about this. Good luck!

If the reason you got rejected was for reasons outside of your control (in this case your guidance teacher), then I'd drop Glasgow an email and explain this, and ask if there's anything you could do to get a place.
If that doesn't pan out, then you do have the option to look to see if Glasgow have any courses which go up on clearing after results come out. This would be a bit of a gamble, as you'd have to reject your other offers and they may not put anything up on clearing (or anything that you want to study), but if you're absolutely set on going to Glasgow then it is an option.

Thank you for your reply! I’ve appealed my rejection however I’m not sure how effective that’s going to be 😭

You now need to work your socks off - really work, don't just play at it - and get the best grades possible.

If you do get top grades in August, drop whatever Firm etc you have, plan a gap year and reapply.

hey, i’m not sure if you’ve heard back about your appeal, but honestly hold out hope. I was rejected for law last friday as well so i know exactly how you feel! I went to admissions in person and they told me there had been a batch rejection for law that shouldn’t have happened (as in they made a BIG mistake), and they were spending yesterday unpicking it and reassessing applications. Yesterday mines was back to how it was at the start “under review” and this morning i’ve heard back and have offers for both Scots and Commom! Stay hopeful!!
I was in a similar position back in 2017. UofG was my dream university and I didn't get in. I went to another university near Glasgow (UWS Paisley campus) and I'm not unhappy with how my life turned out as a result. I still got to enjoy the city, I made great friends, I was inspired by one of the lecturers there to pursue parasitology, and I got a great placement opportunity that was exclusive to that university that kick-started my career. I ended up later working for that company again in 2023.

I eventually made it to UofG in 2021 for my MSc. While I enjoyed my year there, I didn't resent that I hadn't done my undergrad there.

Similarly, i participated in the reach programme as a contextual , which ultimately took my s5 minimum grades away. However i got rejected from glasgow for not meeting s5 grades”. So i appealed and had the head of admissions review it and they are changing the decision.
