GDL a good option for a software developer?

I am an software developer working in an Indian IT company for the past 3 years. I want to become a corporate lawyer and earn my legal qualifications from a reputed RG uni.
My question is, is it a good idea to get a GDL, LPC and then an LLM or start from the scratch and start with an LLB?
Does it matter to firm if I do an LLB or a GDL so long as I'm doing it from a reputable law school (RG) ?
