Hello TSR!

With the deadline for registering to vote looming on the horizon (16th April 2024), the D&CA team are keen to know whether you are already registered, whether you are aware of current Voter ID requirements as well as any general questions that you want to ask!!

You can register to vote at: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

SOME VALID FORMS OF VOTER ID

Spoiler

A full list of valid voter ID can be found at: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id

You can also use outdated ID, it just has to look like you and is under your legal name.

The National Union of Students (NUS) have teamed up with CitizenCard to ensure that students face to barriers when voting in the upcoming General Election to offer a free Voter ID card (normally £18) through a special discount - 'NUS' as checkout! https://www.nus.org.uk/citizencard

I have already registered to vote, and hope you do too!!

I've moved house since the last set of elections, and just about remembered that I needed to re-register at my new address! Thankfully my polling card came very promptly when I did!

Haven't registered to vote yet since I'm not eligible yet haha (late in the academic year birthday people can relate), but definitely will be getting on that as soon as I can 🙂

Don't forget you can still register from the age of 16, I think, so you're ready to go if there's an election when you do turn 18!

You can register to vote as soon as you're 16 (14 in Scotland and Wales). You can't actually vote until you're 18 (or 16 for some elections in Scotland and Wales).
