I left college with a HNC in travel and tourism without Maths and English GCSE. How can I study a degree in Phycology in a university.
Hi there! Unfortunately most psychology courses do require Maths and English GCSE as a minimum, due to a lot of the essay work and statistics you'd be doing. I think your first steps are to get those qualifications. I'd look into your local adult education college and looking to get into these courses again. Since you mentioned that you left college without any Maths or English GCSE results, I believe that these courses will be free (you only pay if you get a grade C or above).

Hello, unfortunately most (if not all) universities will require a 6 in GCSE maths as accredited psychology courses are heavy with statistics and research methods. In terms if the HNC, some universities will accept this and some won't, it depends what grade you got and whether that university accepts qualifications outside of A Levels. You would probably have to redo your GCSE maths at a local college or online to be able to apply for a BPS accredited degree. However, some universities offer a foundation year with lower entry requirements so this may be something to look into. There are also shorter qualifications such as counselling that may not have as heavy academic content and requirement. Good luck!' -Kat (2nd Year Psychology BSc student at Lancaster Uni)
