I would argue that is the hardest maths paper they have published to date. Thoughts?

yh, since the new spec yes. i cba with all the silly mistakes as well. it would have been a lot nice if the limits for q9 were not 3pi/4, etc but instead a nice integer

Fully agreed. Honestly, as someone who does make obvious mistakes I’m gutted at the inclusion of the sum sign and the newton-raphson question. Kicking myself over seriously easy marks; I believe last year it was 56/120 and 2019 it was 68/120 so I’m predicting somewhere around 62/120 for the A overall. Praying lol.

i mean that paper was harder than 2023 so in theory grade boundaries should be lower than 2023

newton-raphson is the easiest question in there

Was the partial fraction under A, (2x-5) or (2x+5)?

(2x-5)

I got A = 21, B = 9 and C=-1 i think i got A wrong or no?

If anyone has the effort, can you explain how the negative lnp was answered? I believe I integrated it correctly but was unsure because I kept getting math errors when plugging in my values due to the 2x-5 ?

When you integrate to an ln function, the bracket becomes an absolute valueI.e. ln|2x-5|

That last question was horrible. I just wrote down all the arithmatic and Geometric equations hoping for the best. Also, my teacher didn't teach us summatations or whatever its called, so has no idea how to do that lol. There were a few nice questions tbf tho. Defo the hardest since like 2018

Same here, we were not taught summations at all

Was the geometric summation 607.5? Also what did people get for part a of the arcs and sectors?

Reply 18

For the integration by parts, what was the second term?
