Reapplication to uni

Could someone advise me on what to do;

Im currently in yr1 of uni. But i don't enjoy my course. I want to reapply and I’ve already received a reference from my old teacher. However, my grades do not meet the normal entry criteria for the course i want to go into. Do i wait for clearing? Or should i just apply even though i would be rejected , and so that i have a personal statement visible too, then wait for clearing?

Always avoid waiting for clearing if you can.

Get your application in as soon as possible if you miss the January deadline to maximise your chances of an offer

Does this count for even if i will be rejected.

Why would you apply if you already know you would be rejected ......?

Thats my question too.
But in clearing they do lower requirements. I know this from last year.

If you have already been rejected, most Unis wont look at you again in Clearing.

ie. the same Uni for the same course.

So would you advise me to wait for clearing day and call up unis then?

Apply as soon as possible.

If you’re rejected in the main cycle then you can ask again to be considered in clearing. If they lower requirements in clearing (it’s unlikely that a university would lower requirements more in clearing than they’d consider in the main cycle from applicants who already have their grades) then having a main cycle application that was rejected wouldn’t be a negative.

It’s a different situation if you’re awaiting results, hold an offer and then get rejected in August for missing your offer. In that situation then clearing isn’t a second chance - your firm choice university would have already considered if they would accept lower grades in that case.
