GCSE Eng Lit

Hi,
IN MY SCHOOL WE DO ENGLISH LITERATURE GCSE IN Y10. I HAVE DELAYED DOING REVISION FOR IT BECAUSEI DIDNT KNOW HOW TO REVISE AND WHERE TO START AND ALSO BECAUSE OF A LACK OF MOTIVATION. I'VE NOW GOT 1 MONTH LEFF AND AM SREESSED ABOUT IT.

IF I DO 6 HOURS OF REVISION A DAY FOR IT UP UNTIL MY GCSE, IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A GRACD 5 OR 6. I DO NOT REVISE FOR MT SCHOOL TESTS FOR THIS AND ONLY GET ABOUT GRADE 3'S, BUT IF I REVISE IS IT POSSBILE TO GET THIS GRADE I WANT FOR MY GCSE?

THANKS - MUCH APPRECIARED FOR READING.

Sadly I didn't do any of those texts but I've studied Macbeth for my EPQ and I know of Jekyll and Hyde. I can help you with structure if you'd like

Okay!

So for Macbeth, you'll get an extract from one of the acts - it will be an easy and well known extract so dw.
You want to start your writing exploring the extract. So what I would do is read the extract and highlight two 'juicy' quotes with lots of A02. Normally they will ask you about a theme or a character e.g. Lady Macbeth - so pick your quotes in relation to the theme.
You get 50 minutes to do the Macbeth section, so I would personally have 5 paragraphs and a small intro (and conclusion if you have time). Therefore each paragraph should be about 8 minutes (40 minutes overall), 5 minutes for intro and 5 minutes for reading/highlighting.
For the structure this is how I did it.

1.

Intro

2.

Extract Quote from first half

3.

Extract Quote from second half

4.

Exposition / Beginning Quote

5.

Middpoint Quote

6.

Denouement / End Quote

7.

Conclusion (if time).

For each quote paragraph this was my structure.

One sentence of anchoring to the theme/ character.

One sentence which leads embeds into a quote.

First piece of A02 about quote and explanation (A01)

Second piece of A02 about quote and explanation

A03 / Context

Put any small pepper quotes throughout to further solidify ur meaning.

To learn this I made flashcards, as I don't have any Macbeth flashcards, I'll show you one of my Romeo and Juliet ones as they will be similar just different information:
O brawling love, O loving hate
Info: Act 1 Scene 1
A01: Romeo’s lovesick exultations; hyperbolic tone; portrays a melodramatic immaturity and naivety. Shakespeare could be satirising Petrarchan conventions of love poetry he will arguably overturn these later in the play to highlight the “true love” of Romeo and Juliet
A02: exclamative tone “O”; use of oxymorons
A03: A modern audience might believe that Romeo’s exultations are desperate and over-the-top, bearing in mind his hamartia of impulsivity and shifts in emotion

Hope this helps 🤗
