Uni saving

I’m going to uni in September , I get full student loan luckily , however I have not saved very much for uni . I still don’t know whether this is necessary to do so , if I do get a good student loan . I need to save some to pay for first months rent , as my student loan won’t come in till after I need to have moved in .
