Is he actually wanting me as his girlfriend?

If a guy asks a girl, "Would you like trying to be my girlfriend?". What is your opinion? I just found it odd he asked me in this wording. Please be awesome and take the time to finish reading to fully understand details before deciding what to type for comments, please and thank you.⬇️

He kept pursuing me and after first "as friends" hangout he sent a text that said he had fun and enjoyed seeing me and spending time with me and wants to keep meeting up. He drives 40 minutes just come to my place. He even took a risk as he is in a managing position where we work and I work "indirectly" under him (he's not MY manager). He still says he looks forward to the one day we both have off to see each other and says he hates it when he sees me in severe chronic dysmenorrhea symptoms that have been almost every day for the past month and a half and isn't grossed out by ♀️stuff. He really is a true gentleman who is quieter more shy and introverted than most. He's not a player or show off works hard and not very many guys in their twenties are as responsible and mature yet. We chat on messenger sending and responding to chats throughout the day a few hours a day total if the chat was a non-stop conversation. Often sends good night, sleep okay?, good morning, how's your day?/day going okay? We are both introverts, more serious in general public if not with friends, otherwise have dark sense of sarcasm, share same life and self morals, he always ask consent for everything, not usually touchy feely type people, nor are we flirty or touchy feely with each other. We are real with each other and treat it as a relationship that might have potential and treat it as getting to know each as working towards finding a spouse. Something just still gets to me about the wording how he asked me to be his girlfriend.🤔 He has had previous girlfriends, am I just overthinking his wording, otherwise how did you ask your girlfriend to become your girlfriend OR how did your boyfriend ask you to be his girlfriend? Lastly, how many guys are just too nice to say their not interested but give it a try anyways OR loose interest and are "too nice" to break up with their girlfriend or just want to give it some time to see what happens and where things go before calling it quits? All opinions are greatly appreciated!

Honestly I totally agree that the wording “Would you like trying” sounds pretty off-putting…
From my perspective, he treats you really well - perhaps he’s unsure about the relationship between you guys so he’s using strange vocabulary to ask you out?
Not sure about the last question but I hope you get your answers soon.
Anyhow, I wish you all the best and have a wonderful day!!
